DADA SHANGHAI 300
Solomun: Always Kerful in the mix
WORLD-CLASS CLUBBING KER, Barcelona Opened in 2013, Ker aims to take Barcelona’s electronic music scene to new heights. Created by the Arnau family, the artistic force behind Spain’s famous Monegros Desert Festival, the production wizardry of Elrow, and Florida135 – the oldest club in Spain, which celebrated its 71st anniversary this year. The 1200 capacity venue is composed of two rooms, in a building formally housing Space and Attic, but has been completely re-imagined as a tribute to Javier Regás, one of the most visionary Spanish interior designers, and friend of the family who passed away some years ago. The main dancefloor resides in room one, a space equally adapted to hosting small concerts and live acts, along with international giants like Laurent Garnier, Maceo Plex, DJ Harvey, Kerri Chandler, Art Department, Claude Von Stroke, Anja Schneider, Martinez Brothers and Solomun on Friday and Saturday nights, while the smaller second room fits 250 people, and a fantastic cocktail bar; and local talent.
On Sundays Ker hosts the legendary Elrow parties, an alternative club that has achieved massive European acclaim since 2010 with performances from artists such as Richie Hawtin, Luciano, Loco Dice, Marco Carola and Seth Troxler and where incredible themes and décor have create an unparalleled atmosphere. This summer Elrow hits Space on the White Isle when they join forces with Kehakuma. Ker’s monthly Friday party REK is also one to watch out for, delivering sets from house and techno stars such as Matthew Herbert, Scuba, Prosumer, Floating Points and Head High, playing music of the highest standard through the club’s state of the art Clearsound and Electrovoice soundsystem. It’s a venue that, in the words of the owner Juan Arnau Lasierra, “creates a comfortable and intimate feel, reminiscent of 70s and 80s clubs”, packed full of “light, colour, emotion, joy and soul”, and, above all, aims to be every electronic music lover’s “second home”.
