One killed, 4 wounded in a firefight in Marantao, Lanao Sur

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur The most wanted person in Marantao, Lanao del Sur was killed and four were wounded in a firefight that ensued between police operatives and the suspectsin the municipality on Thursday, Jan. 26.

In a statement, P/Col. ROBERT S DACULAN, Lanao del Sur police provincial director, said Killed was ABBAS DIMNANG RAMAPA alias ESMAYATIN "DATU" SOMA while his cohorts Ansaruna Mulingan Magi of Brgy. Lalabuan, Balindong, LDS. and Johari Taban Barani of Nataron, Marantao, LDS were arrested.

Daculan said Personnel of Marantao MPS, 1st PMFC-LDSPPO, PDEULDSPPO, Marawi CPS, 103rd RMFC-RMFB 14, and 13 SAC, 1 SAB PNP SAF, jointly served the Warrant of Arrest with Criminal Case Number 8825-2022 for the crime of Murder and for violation of RA 10591 issued by 12th Judicial Region, RTC Branch 8, Marawi CityLDS against ABBAS DIMNANG RAMAPA alias ESMA-

YATIN "DATU" SOMA at Barangay Nataron, Marantao, LDS at about 2:30 PM of January 26, 2023 that resulted to his neutralization, and the arrest of his cohorts and recovery of one (1) caliber 5.56 M16 ArmaliteRifle; live ammunitions, one (1) hand grenade, drug paraphernalia, 18 heat sealed sachets containing white crystalline substance believed to be "shabu" as a result of a firefight when the suspect shoot the law enforcers upon seeing their presence.

He said Marantao police chief PMAJ BOBBY E EGERA, COP and two of his personnel, PCpl Mujahid B Taurac and PCpl Alsadat Jahari were wounded and immediately brought to nearby hospital for medical treatment. “They were in stable condition,” he added.

Daculan said Cadaver of the suspect was claimed by his relatives and the arrested persons, and the recovered pieces of evidence were brought to Marantao MPS for proper disposition. (PR)
