Father, I pray for those who are not taking your gifts seriously, who are about to act upon their own selfish, fleshly desires, and wanting You to bless them in their disobedience. Open their eyes so they can “get it” before they, like Esau, lose the very thing that You have been preparing them for. In the name of Yeshua. 4

A Journey to

To have house and home has been the American dream since before the establishment of this country. It was part of what brought “immigrants” here in the first place. To find a peaceful, secure place to live and be free. The white picket fence has come to symbolize what everyone coming to America wants: a little house of their own, a little garden to grow a few vegetables, and a community to raise their children safely. The home represents stability, safety, community, and all things good, including family, relationships, neighbors, friendships, colleagues, adventures and inspiration. The house is more than just a roof over our heads. It is the very foundation of life itself. So, then, we question ourselves on the condition of our house, its location, the comfort level against the cost, and so on. Some people won’t get rid of their trash, creating unsanitary conditions. Others let the upkeep and maintenance of their house fall away, and soon it becomes unlivable. The state of our bricks-and-mortar houses can usually dictate the state of our spiritual house.

In Scripture, we humans are likened to houses of clay, and a heavenly place prepared for us will be full of mansions. Ultimately, a house represents our body, whether in a mortal state, or an immortal one.

We are also told in Scripture that our bodies are the temple (a type of house) for the Holy Spirit. So, what are the living conditions for the One who guides us, protects us, and has given Himself for us? a publication of Ruth Ministries-The Virtuous Woman,TM a woman's restoration ministry/a segment of Philippi Prospect Ministries TM

If you build your foundation alone, it will be in vain. Except the Lord build the house, and remove all the stain. His children will receive a fortress in His mighty kingdom. For He knows the greatness you will become. Therefore, build your house on a solid stone It will withstand the elements and you will never be alone. I pray your home is blessed for all eternity For you will quickly discover His love is all you need. ___

He causes the grass to grow for the livestock, and herbs for man to cultivate, that he may bring forth food out of the earth. Psalm 104:14

Did you know that peppermint, the herb that makes tea cool and refreshing, can also be used as a household cleaner and bug repellant? Yes, that herb that takes over if left unattended!

(To keep it manageable, plant it in a large pot, then put the pot in the ground, with the rim slightly above ground level.)

According to several sites on organic house cleaning products, peppermint oil is a natural pesticide. To use it as a glass cleaner and to deter bugs that come through windows, mix ½ a teaspoon with lemon juice and water. Works on flies, ants, and other creepy crawlies. Peppermint has a high menthol content, which makes it good for the relief of throat or mouth irritation, and used in products like lip balms and cough medicines. Peppermint is the oldest and most popular flavour of mint-flavored confectionery and is often used in tea and for flavoring ice cream, confectionery, chewing gum, and toothpaste. Peppermint can also be found in some shampoos, soaps and skin care products.

The following cultivars are the most popular for garden use: 1 Mentha × piperita 'Candymint'. Stems reddish. 2 Mentha × piperita 'Chocolate Mint'. reminiscent of flavor in Andes Chocolate Mints 3 Mentha × piperita 'Citrata'. Includes a number of varieties including Eau De Cologne Mint, Grapefruit Mint, Lemon Mint, and Orange Mint. Leaves aromatic, hairless. 4 Mentha × piperita 'Crispa'. Leaves wrinkled. 5 Mentha × piperita 'Lavender Mint'. 6 Mentha × piperita 'Lime Mint'. Foliage lime-scented. 7 Mentha × piperita 'Variegata'. Leaves mottled green and pale yellow. 8

The Decision to be Disobedient

What do we do when we realize we have been disobedient? Where do we go when we have rejected our calling? Who do we ask to take the weight of our grief when God withdraws His Spirit from us? We are left like a house abandoned, with our doors broken down and our windows busted out. All we are fit for then is a rodent haven or other vermin. We realize that there is no longer any joy within our walls, and any sound made is just the wind rushing through our empty rooms. The only shelter we can provide anyone is the transient that needs a quick shelter to get out of the rain. And, the worst part of all is that, in our pain and grief, we realize that we made a decision to go against God's instructions, and the result is our own doing.

9

I have heard people say that God is a God of second chances. I know this to be true, because He has dealt with me many times when I was reluctant to do what He asked, or put down what He told me to put down. But, sometime in our life, we will be faced with a decision--something that may seem unimportant to us, in our way of thinking. But, there are times when we get only one chance to say "yes" to His request. And, our response to Him will determine whether we are worthy to move to the next stage of our calling. If not, then we stop at that point. There is nowhere to sit and rest from the emptiness. It fills and consumes us, and we are left with no direction and no purpose. How do we get past our blatant disobedience? Is there ever any hope of our relationship with God being built back? Have enough decay set in that our walls are falling down, and we become nothing more than a relic for people to wonder about, and create an eyesore in our neighborhood?

We know that Scripture is filled with life-lessons that should be heeded, and disobedience has a few examples written in to help answer some of the heart wrenching questions that we must ask ourselves when our disobedience tears our life apart. One of the reasons for disobedience comes from us thinking too highly of ourselves, in whatever talent, skill or training that we have. Paul, in 2 Corinthians 10, verses 4 and 5 says: The weapons of our warfare are not according to the flesh, but of the power of God, and by it we bring under control rebellious strongholds within us, and we pull down our own imaginations and everything that is raised up against the knowledge of God, and we take all thoughts prisoner to the obedience of The Messiah. This is one of the first places we make a mess of things. We have our own idea how God should be, based on denomination, doctrine, and/or what the pastor says, instead of relying on God Himself through His word, and through His communication with us. (Yes, God does still speak to His people! He has not changed! If anyone is not hearing Him, then that person should give his/her spiritual house a thorough cleaning to see what has the sound muffled.)

10

Paul goes on to says, verses 7 and 12: Do you look at things only as they appear in front of your face? If a man trusts upon himself that he is of The Messiah, let him know this from his soul, that as he is of The Messiah, so also are we....For we are not bold to number or compare ourselves with some of those who flaunt themselves. But, they themselves, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves with themselves, are without understanding. And, here again, we find the attitude that will quickly bring on disobedience. As soon as God asks us to do something that we are uncomfortable with because of our own way of thinking, then we have already invited the enemy into the discussion. If we already put God in a denominational box, the enemy will do whatever it takes to keep Him there. Those things will probably look like whispers of pride and arrogance running through our brains that makes us question what we are learning. Something important to remember: If our measuring stick is broken or has been tampered with to show imprecise delineations, the outcome will not be correct. There are a few characters in Scripture that had "one shot" to get it right, but different things got in the way. The first one was Esau. And it did not happen to him once, but twice. Genesis 25:29-34: Jacob boiled stew. Esau came in from the field, and he was famished. Esau said to Jacob, "Please feed me with that same red stew, for I am famished." Therefore his name was called Edom. Jacob said, "First, sell me your birthright." Esau said, "Behold, I am about to die. What good is the birthright to me?" Jacob said, "Swear to me first." He swore to him. He sold his birthright to Jacob. Jacob gave Esau bread and stew of lentils. He ate and drank, rose up, and went his way. So Esau despised his birthright.

Genesis 27:38-40 Esau said to his father, "Have you but one blessing, my father? Bless me, even me also, my father." Esau lifted up his voice, and wept. Isaac his father answered him, "Behold, of the fatness of the earth will be your dwelling, and of the dew of the sky from above. By your sword will you live, and you will serve your brother. It will happen, when you will break loose, that you shall shake his yoke from off your neck."

11

Hebrews 12: 14-17Follow after peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no man will see the Lord, looking carefully lest there be any man who falls short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and many be defiled by it; lest there be any sexually immoral person, or profane person, like Esau, who sold his birthright for one meal. For you know that even when he afterward desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no place for a change of mind though he sought it diligently with bitter tears.

There have been times in my life that I have read the story of Esau and wept at what he must have felt in his rejection from the one who loved him most. If we are willing to give up our Godly position for a fleshly desire, then how can we be trusted to carry out any thing that God gives us to do? If we think that God plays favorites in the same way we humans do, and bet that against the calling He has given us, we will lose. And, no matter how much we regret those actions, or the thoughts that caused the actions, there are times when we just get one chance. Because once is all it takes for our true colors to show through, and God wants loyalty, not rebellion. Another one-shot-deal was Saul. 1 Samuel 15:10-11,16-19, 24-29,34-35: Then the word of Yahweh came to Samuel, saying, "It grieves me that I have set up Saul to be king; for he is turned back from following me, and has not performed my commandments." Samuel was angry; and he cried to Yahweh all night.... Then Samuel said to Saul, "Stay, and I will tell you what Yahweh has said to me last night." He said to him, "Say on." Samuel said, "Though you were little in your own sight, weren't you made the head of the tribes of Israel? Yahweh anointed you king over Israel; and Yahweh sent you on a journey, and said, 'Go, and utterly destroy the sinners the Amalekites, and fight against them until they are consumed.' Why then didn't you obey the voice of Yahweh, but took the spoils, and did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh?"... Saul said to Samuel, "I have sinned; for I have transgressed the commandment of Yahweh, and your words, because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice. Now therefore, please pardon my sin, and turn again with me, that I may worship Yahweh." Samuel said to Saul, "I will not return with you; for you have rejected the word of Yahweh, and Yahweh has rejected you from being king over Israel." As Samuel turned about to go away, Saul grabbed the skirt of his robe, and it tore. Samuel said to him, "Yahweh has torn the kingdom of Israel from you this day, and has given it to a neighbor of yours who is better than you. Also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent; for he is not a man, that he should repent."... Then Samuel went to Ramah; and Saul went up to his house to Gibeah of Saul. Samuel came no more to see Saul until the day of his death; for Samuel mourned for Saul: and Yahweh grieved that he had made Saul king over Israel. 12

It's a little harder to feel pity for Saul, than for Esau, because his disobedience was further reaching in some ways. Although he did not stop being king, the Spirit of God removed itself from him, and he no longer had God's favor or blessing. The extent of his disobedience was acting on blatant disregard for God's instruction, and fear of the people. Those two attributes of the enemy are ingredients that, if let run rampant, will destroy our loyalty to God in a moment. If we find ourselves in the place of Saul, we might lose our earthly or physical position in life, but we will know no peace until we leave this world, just as Saul didn't. The best way to not fall into a trap of the enemy cheating us out of our blessing, favor and joy, is to remain humble before God, read what happened to different characters in Scripture, and learn from their experience. That which has been is that which shall be; and that which has been done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. Ecclesiastes 1:9 We might live in a different time, a different culture, and on a different continent, but heartache is still heartache, pain is still pain, and joy is still joy, in all peoples, at any time, past, present or future.

This writing stems from my heartache after ministering to a woman suffering the emotional pain of a traumatic and abusive past, almost every day for the last nine months. Not just through texts or phone calls, but visits that lasted most of the day several times a week. She became my friend, and in a lot of ways, became like a sister. But, just a few days ago, she decided that the calling that God was placing on her life was not worth the sacrifice of what He was asking her to give up. She ultimately did not want to give up her pain, her victim status, or pride in her own accomplishments that, in her eyes, outweighed God's blessing....When we women have children, there is a lot of pain and suffering, but a crying baby at the end of it all makes the pain worthwhile. But, some women go through all of the pain and agony of having a child, only for it to be stillborn. God wants us to be rid of the pain from our past, and will plant a seed in us that will grow into something wonderful that will bless us for the rest of our lives. But, others go through the process of having that seed planted, feel it develop, decide to be disobedient, and then have nothing to show for all the pain they have been through. I beseech all who read this to go through your spiritual inventory, and see where obedience is needed, and do whatever it is that God is asking. You will never get back less than whatever it is He is asking you to give up or do. It might be the only chance you get. Eve had to take only one bite.....

Once upon a time two brothers who lived on adjoining farms fell into conflict. It was the first serious rift in 40 years of farming side by side, sharing machinery, and trading labor and goods as needed without a hitch. Then the long collaboration fell apart. It began with a small misunderstanding and it grew into a major difference, and finally it exploded into an exchange of bitter words followed by weeks of silence. One morning there was a knock on John's door. He opened it to find a man with a carpenter's toolbox.

"I'm looking for a few days work" he said. "Perhaps you would have a few small jobs here and there. Could I help you?" "Yes," said the older brother. "I do have a job for you. Look across the creek at that farm. That's my neighbor, in fact, it's my younger brother. Last week there was a meadow between us and he took his bulldozer to the river levee and now there is a creek between us. Well, he may have done this to spite me, but I'll go him one better. See that pile of lumber curing by the barn? I want you to build me a fence - an 8-foot fence - so I won't need to see his place anymore." The carpenter said, "I think I understand the situation. Show me the nails and the post-hole digger and I'll be able to do a job that pleases you." The older brother had to go to town for supplies, so he helped the carpenter get the materials ready and then he left for the day. The carpenter worked hard all that day measuring, sawing, nailing. About sunset when the farmer returned, the carpenter had just finished his job. The farmer's eyes opened wide, his jaw dropped. There was no fence there at all. It was a bridge... a bridge stretching from one side of the creek to the other! A fine piece of work handrails and all - and the neighbor, his younger brother, was coming across, his hand outstretched. "You are quite a fellow to build this bridge after all I've said and done." The two brothers stood at each end of the bridge, and then they met in the middle, taking each other's hand. They turned to see the carpenter hoist his toolbox on his shoulder. "No, wait! Stay a few days. I've a lot of other projects for you," said the older brother. "I'd love to stay on," the carpenter said, "but, I have many more bridges to build." Moral: In relationships, build bridges, not fences.

a closer look at the fruits of the Spirit

Restoration

In Galatians 5:22-23, we are given a list of the fruits of the Spirit. They are the guidelines to which we conduct ourselves in our daily walk. These are nine different aspects of Godliness that we must adhere to in order to live to our fullest spiritual potential. They vary slightly, depending on the translation, but the foundational fruits of the Spirit are: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. While at first glance, these all look the same, a closer look reveals small differences in their meanings, which translates to differences in their application and implementation. This article is meant to shed light on each of these nine characteristics of holiness, to explore their nuances and minute differences. Restoration falls under the category of peace.

What is it? What does it look like? The modern definition for this word is most often linked to revitalizing old art or furniture, or the renovations of houses. But, what does this word really mean? How do we apply it? And, is there a Scriptural model? The dictionary describes healing in the following way: 1. the act of restoring; renewal, revival, or reestablishment. 2. the state or fact of being restored. 3. a return of something to a former, original, normal, or unimpaired condition. 4. restitution of something taken away or lost. 5. something that is restored, as by renovating. 6. a reconstruction or reproduction of an ancient building, extinct animal, or the like, showing it in its original state. 7. a putting back into a former position, dignity, etc. 2 Kings 22:4-7 Go up to Hilkiah the high priest, that he may sum the money which is brought into the house of Yahweh, which the keepers of the threshold have gathered of the people. Let them deliver it into the hand of the workmen who have the oversight of the house of Yahweh; and let them give it to the workmen who are in the house of Yahweh, to repair the breaches of the house, to the carpenters, and to the builders, and to the masons, and for buying timber and cut stone to repair the house. However there was no accounting made with them of the money that was delivered into their hand; for they dealt faithfully. Just as the men worked hard to build back the walls and gates of the physical temple, so are we now to build back the walls and gates of our spiritual temple, which is our body. (1 Cor. 6:19) And, when it came time to repay those that had done the work, they did not have to count their wages, because they knew they had been paid fairly. So it is with us today: if we have been called to help someone rebuild their spiritual walls, we should deal fairly with them, and not take advantage of their position in life. All of us has been in need of restoration at one time or another in our lives, and we should not be subjected to dishonesty among those that are helping us overcome our adversity. 16

dictionary credit

Isaiah 58:6-8 Isn't this the fast that I have chosen: to release the bonds of wickedness, to undo the bands of the yoke, and to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke? Isn't it to distribute your bread to the hungry, and that you bring the poor who are cast out to your house? When you see the naked, that you cover him; and that you not hide yourself from your own flesh? Then your light shall break forth as the morning, and your restoration shall spring forth speedily; and your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of Yahweh shall be your rear guard. Yahweh Himself tells us what He requires from us, so that we have a full restoration. Our restoration, both inward and outward, comes from our compassion for others, and acting upon that compassion in some form of help. Just like old Victorian houses that look magnificent after a full interior and exterior renovation, so can our interior (mind and heart) and exterior (body and actions) be just as glorious. Everyone wants to live in a new house, not a broken-down shack, yet that is what some of us walk around in, in the deteriorating condition of our hearts, minds, bodies, and actions. It is time for a restoration and renovation project to start in all of our lives, so we can live to the fullest.

Zebulun Habitation Hebrew Transliteration: Zebulun Hebrew Spelling: ‫זְבוּלוּן‬ Anyone with the name “Zebulun” can look very much like his namesake in Scripture. Here are a few examples of the characteristics of the name. Genesis 30:20 Leah said, "God has endowed me with a good dowry. Now my husband will live with me, because I have borne him six sons." She named him Zebulun. Leah was desperate for the affection of Jacob, as the names of each of her children reflect. Although Jacob never lived with Leah, she is hoping that, by naming her sixth son as she did, he would take the hint and move in. Genesis 49:13 Zebulun will dwell at the shore of the sea. He will be for a haven of ships. His border will be on Sidon. Zebulun was blessed by Jacob to live at the coast, being a haven, or port, for ships, which represented trade on a regional, national and international level, which could be all types of cargo, or people traveling . 18

Our names are more than just what we are called. God gave names, or changed names, in Scripture, in the lives of those whose names were changed. Do up to the character of that name? Or, do you feel

They can reveal a lot about our character. When it signified that a change was about to take place you have a Scripture-based name? Are you living a name-change is in order?

Deuteronomy 33:18-19 Of Zebulun he said, "Rejoice, Zebulun, in your going out; and Issachar, in your tents. They shall call the peoples to the mountain. There they will offer sacrifices of righteousness, for they shall draw out the abundance of the seas, the hidden treasures of the sand." In this Scripture, Moses is blessing Zebulun in his place by the sea, but is then pairing him with *Issachar (the bringer of a reward) to find the hidden treasure located there. This is not the type of reward one gets for taking the metal detector and walking the shoreline. This reward is people, and bringing them to the knowledge of Yeshua HaMashiach. Joshua 21:34-36 To the families of the children of Merari, the rest of the Levites, out of the tribe of Zebulun, Jokneam with its suburbs, Kartah with its suburbs, Dimnah with its suburbs, and Nahalal with its suburbs; four cities. Out of the tribe of Reuben, Bezer with its suburbs, Jahaz with its suburbs. A person with a ‘Zebulun’ character will give of himself to make sure the man of God has a place to reside and do the work he is called to do.

What Type of House are We? In the book of Iyov (Job) we human creations are likened to a house of clay.

But, what type of house do we really live in? And what type of house do we portray to others? Most of us would want to improve our living conditions, to be among the more prestigious of our society. And our physical abode tells others very quickly what income bracket we fall into. That, in turn, can also determine the type of person we are, and the type of person that others perceive we are. So, then, our character can determine what type of spiritual house we are living in, despite what our physical house looks like. 20

Most portrayal of housing comes from two places: (1) where a person sees themselves, and (2) where others see that person. Some people have made themselves slaves to the world, through various things that tie them down and constrict them to endless drudgery. Most of the time, this is associated with a job, but it can be something as simple as outdated views on things, or thinking that their is no other chance for a different type of life, so a better type of existence is never pursued. Then, there are another group of people that sees others as slaves, no matter what type of character the person has. In the eyes of these people, others can never attain the status that they have, and will always be beneath them in ranks such as society, finance, knowledge and/or prestige. What these people do not realize is that this type of attitude speaks more about their own lack, that it does about the people whom they speak against. 21

Now, we come to those that see value in everyone. Their character is to look for, and find, potential in those around them. People with this instinctual nature will look for the positive in others, speak to them about their positive attributes, and encourage them where they are weak. The people with spiritual houses such as these are not looking to feed off of society, but rather to improve it. And, with the positive, there always comes a negative. There are those who seem to have a decent, stable character on the outside. But, when they show their true selves, their characters are archaic, old-fashioned, and unmoving. They are marked by time, stuck in the dark ages, medieval in their treatment of others, and their ideas too old to be useful or acceptable.

22

Then, there are those people that are of a royal lineage, that understand leadership, stewardship, and have the welfare of all people in general on their minds and is part of their responsibilities. They can function in the highest levels of government, and dig ditches with the common man, all with losing an ounce of dignity. They seek peace on all levels, and submit Godly requests on the behalf of the people, and does so with honor and integrity. They have no toleration for those who would use their position for selfish gain, and has no trouble speaking out against those who do not have the well being of others close to their heart. The last group are in a world all their own. It is a fantasy land, a fairy tale, a place to be entertained, and to entertain others. There is nothing real; their whole demeanor is make-believe. These types of characters can do nothing substantial for other except offer a momentary diversion with smoke and mirrors, and poorly executed drama. But, in their inadequacy, they put on a good show, and many people fall for the delusion. The crowds flock to persons with characters that ultimately tell them what they want to hear. So, they teach irresponsibility to the throngs, turning truths into lies, hoping no one pulls back the curtain to reveal that it is just a man that everyone thought was a wizard, and he has no ability to help anyone when their need is greatest.

What does this picture say to you?

What got him to this point? Will this problem ever go away? Why doesn’t he just go get a job? What kind of drugs is he on? When are these people going to take responsibility for their lives? When is the government going to take responsibility for its people? When will the “church” care more for these than their bricks and mortar building program? How many people have turned him away, when he has asked for help? How many people have judged him, when they don’t know his story? How many people realize that it is God’s favor that has kept them from this fate, and nothing they have done themselves? How many people recognize the modern-day homeless person is treated the same as those with biblical leprosy?

Many people do choose to live on the street, but a far bigger percentage do not choose this life. Some unforeseen circumstance in their life brought them here. Homelessness should not define a person, but rather seen as a temporary setback, to be overcome. While the economy is the biggest contributing factor, it is not the only one. It is a shame that houses sit vacant and abandoned, falling down on their foundations, while people struggle to keep alive out in the elements. 29
