A dream like state becomes realistic and pragmatic
A design developes from a form and a form developes from a shape. At first instanse it might be quite simplistic but as the development process continues the shapes begin to develop meaning and posess qualities found within the intricasies of the ideas behind the form.

From the earthy colours of my old balanese styled house to the architectural beauty in Stefan Antoni’s 199 Nettleton house, my house of dreams will use inspiration from these sources to take form and become a piece of unique architecture with its own value.

The above development process shows how my initial idea from a boxlike shape (evident in 199 Nettleton House) progresses step by step into the more complex and refined shape of my proposed dream house. In each step i’ve attemtep to add architectural value to the current shape. In doing this I know that every step is for a reason and every room and space has a purpose.
My idea is to create something that makes use of all the space rather than having wasted or unused space. A multi level house creates diversity and a clear aspect of seperation which is what I hope to achieve.

Timber - The material that I believe will be used most in the construction of this design. Mainly because of its strength and sustainable features. Steel - A very strong material that will come in handy in the base floor to erect a strong and stable foundation for the multiple levels that will go above. Concrete - Ideally used for the base, potentially the pool and internally as a ‘spine’ for the building.

Cladding - Although mainly used as an aesthetic feature rather than an actual construction material I feel like the material can be used effectively to create heirachy.

The plan views on either side show the house from top to bottom. Smaller spaces placed at the top that felt less important than the living space and the working space on the bottom floors. The idea of the split and multiple levels was to completely seperate the working space from the social space. This was effectiviley done through a mezzanine floor and a simple exterior form.

Multiple level facades effectively create a balance between a practical space that is functional and pragmatic. In comparrsion to the dream like spaces on the top floors that allow complete escape and prove to be poetic in aesthetics.

A seperate entry to the top porch presents it with exclusivity. A skyroof above makes it easy to gaze at the stars. A true dream like feeling as you drift away in the open yet comfortable space.
A rim flow pool makes it seem as if the house is continues on just like a dream that falls away.

An additional theatre room added as a wing to the house to allow an internal escape area in close relation to the outdoor escape area.
A car parking psace underneath the theatre room makes effective use of free space.
