Our mission

To impact communities and enrich lives through the game of golf by supporting and delivering programs that focus on personal development and sportsmanship with an emphasis on youth, military, and diversity.

Youth, Military, and Diversity & Inclusion.

Our foundation was created to:

• improve and advance opportunities for youth golfers;

• provide golf as a therapeutic rehabilitation tool for active-duty troops and military veterans; and

• encourage diversity and inclusion by promoting golf to all, particularly those who have no exposure to the game.

Our leadership

The PGA of America REACH Foundation Philadelphia Board of Directors is composed of 13 independent directors within the golf industry, including one PGA of America Golf Professional and the Philadelphia PGA Section’s Director of Section Affairs. The foundation board is responsible for appointing and confirming all foundation trustees.

Our board members also help fundraise, design the foundation’s strategic plan, and provide ancillary support to the foundation’s staff and programming.

PGA of America REACH Foundation Philadelphia Trustee Program

Our trustee program will comprise up to 10 trustees serving five-year terms. Trustees may serve up to two consecutive terms, and may regain status as a trustee after one year of absence from the organization’s official business. External organizations / companies may provide a trustee gift, and will have the opportunity to appoint one individual to serve as their designated trustee.

Founding REACH

Trustee Member

$60,000 commitment over five years ($20,000 gift required in first year)

• Recognition on all printed and digital correspondence and collateral regarding foundation activity and success;

• Service as advisor to foundation Board;

• Invitation (with first right of refusal) to join foundation Board and fellow trustees for annual outings with emphasis on local markets;

• One-year Dormie Network Membership for first year of trustee membership.*

REACH Trustee Member

$50,000 commitment over five years ($10,000 gift required each year)

• Recognition on all printed and digital correspondence and collateral regarding foundation activity and success;

• Service as advisor to foundation Board;

• Invitation to join foundation Board and fellow trustees for annual outings with emphasis on local markets.

*Retail value for a one-year Dormie Network membership is $30,000; Founding Dormie Network REACH Trustee Members will receive $8,000 in tax benefit for the membership gift. Founding Dormie Network REACH Trustee Members must not live within 75 miles of any Dormie Network property, nor have a secondary home within 75 miles of a Dormie Network property (specifically for Hidden Creek in Egg Harbor Township, N.J., Founding Dormie Network REACH Trustee Members may not own, rent, or occupy a home for more than 30 days east of the Delaware River and south of Interstate 95.

Duties & Responsibilities

PGA of America REACH Foundation

Philadelphia Trustees will be responsible for:

• Advising the foundation’s Board of Directors in oversight of the organization’s financial assets, budget, and strategic planning;

• Providing recommendations regarding the management of investments, financial controls, and systems for fiscal accountability;

• Setting the strategic direction of the foundation through a plan regarding governance, asset and foundation management, and the attainment of grant making goals and fundraising; and

• Assisting the foundation’s Board of Directors and the staff in building relationships with future potential foundation trustees and donors.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

PGA of America REACH Foundation

Philadelphia Trustees should have:

• Developed an understanding of the Philadelphia PGA Section and the PGA of America REACH Foundation Philadelphia, particularly regarding the foundation’s mission statement;

• A true passion for golf and the future of the game;

• A willingness to give time and thought to the affairs of the foundation;

• A capacity for harmonious teamwork, and arriving at and accepting group decisions;

• Practical wisdom, to see the whole picture, to recognize the validity of opposing arguments, to distinguish principle from expediency and to temper the ideal with what is realistically possible.

The PGA of America REACH Foundation Philadelphia is committed to ensuring financial stability for the foundation, our current programming, as well as future programming. Meeting financial benchmarks will allow the foundation to build support among PGA of America Golf Professionals, and achieve desired growth, including growing existing programs and the introduction of new programming for each of our core pillars: Youth, Military, and Diversity & Inclusion.
