SPECIAL CLASS
TOO MUCH “WHELM?” WE CAN PLAY WITH IT!
Gifted, Sensitive Kids Feb 2, 2014 • 3:30-5 pm Cynthia Winton-Henry & Soyinka Rahim Kids are little sponges. They soak up so much information, often more than we know. They take in information about traumatic events in the news, our current environmental crises, the vibe in the family, and everything they notice from hundreds of social interactions during each school day. InterPlayer Sheri Prud’homme has organized this workshop led by her long-time teacher, Cynthia Winton-Henry, co-founder of InterPlay and Body Wisdom, Inc., to offer kids in mid-elementary school years tools to manage all that they are taking in. InterPlay techniques can help kids and their parents. InterPlay is active, reflective, playful, fun, and effective. Cynthia and her colleague Soyinka Rahim will begin the workship with parents and kids all together. Later, as the kids continue to play with Soyinka, Cynthia will give parents an opportunity to reflect. Kids and parents then come together for a playful ending.

Cynthia Winton-Henry Wednesday, January 15 • 7 pm with special musical guest Stephanie Pile Vocalist, pianist and InterPlay leader, Stephanie Pile will lend her warm, rich mezzo voice to a variety of jazz, Broadway and popular musical pieces. Stephanie has an extensive choral, musical theater and church music background and also co-leads a women’s monthly a cappella singing circle, “Singing in a New World.” Doesn’t matter whether we’re talking about lovers, friends, partners, colleagues, spouses, family or ancestors, we find both wonder and pain in our relationships. Sometimes we’re gliding across the lake of love on waterskis and other times we’re stuck in the mud. How can we find more joy, power and satisfaction and avoid feeling left out, dumped or drowned? Cynthia breaks down the dance of attachment, mirror neurons, and trauma and sheds light on the mechanics of interpersonal, familial, and cultural connections using the Healthy Interaction Check List. Apply some basic body wisdom to your relationships and watch them thrive! Learn why it will work better to play your way to love rather than work at it.

What's enough? What's too much? Deep down inside us lives a not-too-attractive monster with several arms that wants to grab it all up—whatever it is that we want, need, want, need, want. These are deep body impulses that affect us individually and at all levels of group life. How do we balance our needy, greedy selves with our generous, sharing side? We know that generosity really works, too, and that it good for our bodyspirits! Phil will look at this sticky mess from the personal to the global. Money is right there in the middle of it—how we handle it ourselves and how the world does it. Let's bring this stuff into the light of day!
