ALL SAINTS’ AT A GLANCE

HISTORY & MISSION Established in 1963, All Saints’ Episcopal Day School is an independent, PK-8 coeducational institution in Phoenix, Arizona. With approximately 530 students, our class sizes are small. We strongly believe in the power of student-teacher relationships. Everything we do is guided by our core tenets of community, academic excellence, and character cultivation. While we have grown and evolved in tremendous ways since opening in the fall of 1963, our mission of educating children—mind, body, and soul—in a nurturing community remains at the forefront. Our challenging academic program and closeknit community create an atmosphere where proven teaching methods are honored and innovation is encouraged. At All Saints’, students are empowered to take learning into their own hands, inspiring critical thinking and helping children to develop their passions and sense of purpose in the world. Preparing the next generation of leaders, thinkers, and innovators is embedded in our educational philosophy and mission. All Saints’ seeks to cultivate a growth mindset in students and foster the development of problem-solving skills, creative thinking, and resilience. We see inclusivity and belonging as vital components of our mission, as is the ethos of Episcopalian education. It is our mission to know and understand each child and help them succeed by supporting their individual strengths. Our core tenet of community resonates far beyond classroom walls and into the parent community, often touted as one of the favorite parts of being an All Saints’ family. All Saints’ is the only National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) Episcopal PK–8 and National Association of Epsicopal Schools (NAES) member school in Arizona. We hold accreditations with Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS) and the Southwestern Association of Episcopal Schools (SAES).

LOWER SCHOOL

PRE-KINDERGARTEN THROUGH FOURTH GRADE

All Saints’ Lower School is a vibrant and powerful learning community. Spacious classrooms, small class sizes, and experienced teachers allow a balance of structure and freedom conducive to maximum academic and personal growth. Alongside reading, writing, and mathematics, we begin cultivating a growth mindset and fostering vital skills like perseverance, problem-solving, resilience and critical thinking. Instruction happens as a class, in small groups, and individually. At every level, personal relationships among students and with faculty serve as a catalyst for engaging students in learning. The Lower School is made up of two pre-kindergarten classrooms and three classrooms at each grade level in kindergarten through fourth grade. Faculty specialists in music, art, theatre, science, technology, library, Spanish, religion, and Life Skills work with the classroom teachers to integrate many of these disciplines with core academics, further enhancing students’ learning experiences. Pre-Kindergarten through second grade classrooms have a maximum of 16 students and third and fourth grade classrooms can have up to 18 students.

MIDDLE SCHOOL FIFTH THROUGH EIGHTH GRADE

Middle school is where our students grow into their individual strengths. Independence is fostered as self-contained lower school homerooms are replaced with an advisory model, and students begin moving between subjectspecific classrooms. Middle school faculty provide engaging and differentiated instruction, meeting each student where they are and helping them to find challenge and success. The Middle School program is designed specifically to promote a love of learning and the desire to explore both intellectually and creatively. Robust core academic courses are at the center of our program, complemented by our offerings in the creative arts, athletics, and clubs—providing opportunities to nurture new interests and develop well-rounded students who succeed in high school and beyond. Creative Concentration classes are designed to enable each student to graduate with a specialization in art, band, theater, or design thinking. The Middle School schedule is structured to intentionally provide more balance while helping students to build independence and agency in their learning journey. Advisory and WIN (What I Need) time is built into the schedule first thing in the morning to guide students as they apply their growing executive functioning skills and independence.

OUR CAMPUS Rooted in our tradition of academic excellence, our vision is to inspire our children to think differently and take intellectual risks through spaces that foster imagination, creative thinking, collaboration, flexibility, and adaptability. Flexibility in using indoor and outdoor learning spaces is central to the All Saints’ educational experience. Outdoor spaces on campus are used in significant ways—from community gatherings and performances, to collaborative group work, to individual study. We were thrilled to open the doors to the Christopher Ray Milisci Academic Building with the beginning of the 2022–23 school year. The 50,000 SF building was intentionally designed with inquiry at the center. Children can brainstorm ideas in their new classrooms, research them in the Lenhardt Library, and watch them come to life in the Ward DREAMlabs, classroom terraces, and the Middle School Plaza.

The Shaver Learning Commons was completed in 2023. Designed to elevate our tradition of academic excellence and reinforce our sense of community, the outdoor space holds a wealth of features that provide opportunities to explore new methods for teaching and learning and spaces for our community to gather and create lasting memories. In lower school, all classrooms have direct access to outdoor space for learning and in middle school students can move independently around campus to read, work, and meet in groups. Middle school students also have access to a second floor Middle School Plaza where they can study. These learning spaces are an integral part of our educational approach, since we believe children develop best when they have the ideal environment for learning.
