I’M NERVOUS...WILL I BE COMFORTABLE WITH YOU?
Whether you are a glamorous girl who loves shopping, a bookworm, a musician, a social butterfly, a gamer, a baseball player, someone who works a lot.....you will feel comfortable with me!!! I frequently receive compliments from parents stating that their son/ daughter felt a lot more comfortable with me and had a lot more fun than they thought they would!!! I substitute teach at a Junior High and High School (I also taught elementary full time for fifteen years) and fell in love with the drive, energy, and beauty that all teenagers posses. EVERYONE is unique and those qualities are what make us interesting. I will get to know you and plan your shoot around YOU and YOUR goals for our shoot. Your portraits will NOT look like everyone else’s. They will truly reflect who you are. When you can be yourself, you will shine and look GORGEOUS! Chances are you already know someone (or many!) who have already worked with me...ask around! On a more personal note, I am a mom to two teenage boys and two adorable pups as well as a wife, working full time as a photographer and graphic designer. I love shopping, movies, working out (usually!), hanging out with my family, and traveling. I am truly passionate about what I do and I think this comes through in the expressions of my gorgeous clients :)
What to Wear
YOUR OUTFITS HELP TO TELL YOUR STORY :) The answer to this question depends largely on your personal style, interests, and how many clothing changes they’d like to do. The session that you choose dictates how many clothing changes you have. Your yearbook picture is your first consideration. All districts require you to follow the school’s dress code. MANY districts are very strict when it comes to necklines and shoulders for your yearbook picture. If you have a nice long sleeved shirt that you like, I strongly recommend it! Districts vary from casual to suit and tie for men. Some districts mandate the color of the background, so check the literature they gave you (usually on their website) for color restrictions. I do have a few things in ‘Amy’s closet’ that meet guidelines, but not in every size! You may also bring the senior’s favorite outfit (even if it’s t-shirt and ripped jeans!), an outfit that you agree on, and one that reflects a sports/activity! Think of the ads you see when you flip though a magazine. DIFFERENT TEXTURES (lace, leather, fringe) and styles! Denim is your friend - it matches everything! Jewelry can really make a picture...adding dimension, as can a favorite hat, boots, or jacket. If you are a casual, laid back teenager, dress as such! **Everyone is not fancy!** If you love clothing, rock a really cool outfit with edgy boots/shoes! Avoid logos, tube tops, and super low cut shirts Be sure everything is ironed and wrinkle free. This may mean changing into your first outfit when you arrive for your session!

affordable FUN! FAQ's: 1. Several diverse CNY districts are represented. 2. MUST have parent permission. Parents will receive all emails. 3. MUST sign up with Photography by Amy for your senior portraits. 4. Single and group projects (come to the ones you can!) 5. $10-20 for each referral (don't go looking for them! You are not a sales person!) 6. Fees: $100 deposit that ultimately goes towards what ever prints/ merchandise you decide to purchase. $100 sitting fee for you 'real' senior pictures (you may pay $100, but you will receive the Ultimate experience, anywhere within a 30 min driving distance, 2 hours long!) 7. You will appear on my Instagram, Facebook, website, mgazines, studio walls, etc. You will have super cool, artistic, creative, unique portraits to post BEFORE you do your 'real' senior pictures! 8. Want to bring a friend along, sure! They can be one of my ambassadors :) Want to bring a pet along for your complimentary mini shoot in the spring, sure! Sister, brother, whoever! Or.... just come and be your fabulous self alone or with a parent (althogh I will need a signature from them!) 9. The rest of this magazine is a portion of last year's senior magazine, this year the 2020 models will be featured! Pricing is the same, I will just have it structured differently!

BRING AT LEAST THREE OUTFITS: TRENDY (have fun with it, think magazine shoot!!!), Casual, and ACTIVITY/SPORT/PET, etc (no sport or activity? bring another trendy!) I have a ‘closet’ with accessories for you to borrow if necessary!
IT’S SO IMPORTANT TO WEAR THE RIGHT UNDERGARMENTS! Some sheer dresses and tops require nude underwear. Bra straps should not show, even if it is in style. Sometimes a strapless bra is a must!!! DO NOT ASSUME I CAN PHOTOSHOP OUT STRAPS, WRINKLES, ETC!!!! I AM A PHOTOGRAPHER, NOT A MAGICIAN! If you don’t love your arms, think long, flowy sleeves. Arms can appear larger than they are in pictures.
Be comfortable, it will show! Throw a trendy jacket over a plain outfit and add boots, wedges or heels, VOILA! So CUTE! Same goes for jewelry and hats!
Bring clothes freshly pressed and on hangers with COORDINATING ACCESSORIES to save time! Use fashion magazines, commercials, INSTAGRAM and PINTEREST for inspiration! MORE MAKEUP THAN USUAL....the camera EATS IT off your face! Don’t forget your lips....I also have tons of glosses :)LOVE lashes?! Wear some falsies! NAILS: neat and classic, avoid trendy colors... think neutral! SKIN: drink lots of water for a few days and avoid the sun a day or two before...I can't always photoshop burns! LIPS: gloss, lipstick or balm at minimum! HAIR: Start with it down then up for the last shots! If meeting with a hairdresser be sure to bring pictures... it's not a time to try something new! BROWS: Plan on taking care of unwanted hair at least a day or two prior!

I love love going through magazines or surfing the internet for inspiration...not to copy pictures exactly (with my own senior clients), but to identify what the common thread is between them.... Here are some that I clipped when I took a break from making this magazine. I googled ‘senior style’ and screen shot the first seven pictures that stood out to me. I then focused on their commonalities: ACCESSORIES TEXTURE SIMPLE, GORGEOUS MAKEUP LONG, LOOSE WAVES Share pictures with me and I’ll keep a file for you! Determine what it is about them that you love and we’ll incorporate those trends into YOUR shoot! I have many accessories in my ever-growing ‘senior closet’!!!
FOR A SUCCESSFUL SHOOT.... here are some tips!

BRING AT LEAST THREE OUTFITS: Casual, trendy/dressy (well, as dressy as you feel comfortable!!!), and ACTIVITY/SPORT Avoid clothing with logos and words (unless it’s a jersey). It will distract from your gorgeous face! If you are wearing a tie (and you don’t know how to tie it) have someone do it for you loosely so that all you have to do is slip it over your head and tighten it up! YouTube is great as well! Feel free to bring more than one! No need to wear dress pants for your yearbook picture! ;) They won’t show, be comfortable! Be comfortable, it will show! Jeans look AWESOME in pictures, especially with jerseys! Bring clothes freshly pressed and on hangers! Accessorize! If you play baseball or lacrosse, bring your equipment, ALL of it....if you LOVE your pet, arrange to bring your furry friend! They will be sure we capture a natural smile :) If your favorite look is the scruffy look, go for it, but avoid the sloppy scruff (on your neck, etc). If you want some with scruff and some without, bring an electric razor and we will do your more formal pictures last!! Be sure nails are clipped and clean!

$325 Session Fee* THE MOST LUXURIOUS SESSION OFFERED FOR THE SENIOR WHO WANTS IT ALL!!! This is a senior who REALLY wants to show off their personality, nearly anything goes! Professional Hair, Wardrobe & Makeup ideas followed by a 2-3 hour shoot with Amy!!! If you want to be photographed with your horse at a farm or wading through the waters in front of Chittenango Falls,this is the session for YOU!!!** 2-3 hours of shooting and travel gives us time to get your yearbook shot and portraits taken at two (sometimes more) locations. We can even try something fun or high-fashion too! As many outfits as we have time for! This also includes the option of experiencing one of my FINE ART SHOOTS!!! When you arrive at your scheduled time I will get to know you a little first! Get ready for a great time sprinkled with laughs, fun & creativity! We will take a look at any outfits and props you have brought with you. Bring any ideas you hadn’t already sent me! At this time the balance of your session fee is due.
If you broke out...no worries, that is what Photoshop is for!!! WITHIN 72 HOURS OF YOUR SESSION
I will send you a link to a sneak peek of your session! A few may be edited but most will be untouched proofs, waiting for you to pick which ones speak to YOU and YOUR family. Over the next two weeks we will communicate back and forth about your favorite pictures and edits. I will edit two of your favorites for you to share on social media. These edits will appear in your proofs as well! Think about what merchandise you will want/need! It is NOT necessary to purchase everything at once! Many of my seniors start with packages and/or prints and books, then order invites, announcements and/or thank you cards in the spring!
WITHIN THREE - FOUR WEEKS OF YOUR SESSION
Depending on what works best for you, we can set up a time for a one-on-one custom ordering session. This session may be in person at my studio or over the phone. The balance of your payment is due when your order is placed. You are NOT tied to packages, I’ll create one for YOU, based on your needs! Most of you will already have a $100 jump on your purchases!!! This is a busy time of year for seniors and their families. I understand should you need to put your ordering session off. :)

I GRADUATE WITH THE CLASS OF 2019. WHY CAN’T I WAIT UNTIL CLOSER TO MY GRADUATION DATE TO HAVE MY PICTURES TAKEN?
Yearbook pictures are generally due to the yearbook staff in late September or early October. Most seniors are photographed between June and August. I am aware of the deadlines, sizes, and background requirements for most districts. Once I photograph you and you have chosen your favorites, I do the rest for you!!! If you’d rather do your yearbook pictures early then your full shoot later, we can do that too!
CAN YOU DO TOUCH UPS FOR ACNE, SCARS, SUNBURN, ETC?
YES! It is a must for many teenagers. I will also whiten your teeth, remove any lines you want removed, soften your face...I’ve even ‘cut hair’ and add eyeliner and mascara that was smeared off in the water! To protect the feelings of my clients I do not have before and after examples of breakouts to share. SOME THINGS, HOWEVER, ARE HARDER TO EDIT, SUCH AS BRA STRAPS, BAD SUNBURNS AND WRINKLED CLOTHING, SO DON’T ASSUME I CAN FIX THOSE!!!
DO I HAVE TO USE MY SCHOOL’S ‘OFFICIAL PHOTOGRAPHER’?
No. In the state of NY it is law that YOU select the photographer of your choice. I have existing relationships with most school districts!
DO YOU OFFER ANY DISCOUNTS?
Yes and No. This year I AM offering payment plans for session and packages. You can also book your session for June 10-July 10 and receive a free BFF shoot (tacked on to your senior session) and a free 8x10 and free 5x7 of your choice!

You have a multitude of GORGEOUS shots to choose from. Now what do you want to do with them? Make a ‘wish list’ of everyone you need to buy for, including family and friends. What about portraits for your home (walls, shelves and side tables)? Metal prints or accordion wallets are WONDERFUL for grandparents. Rather than limit yourself to the restraints of a package, compose a ‘wish list’ and let me ‘package’ it for you! Your first order is straight through ME.... WHY PURCHASE PROFESSIONAL PRINTS?
I hear this question all the time. Why should I pay more for professional prints when I can get the printed at Walmart or Shutterfly ? Legally, professional prints are copyright protected. You may purchase a digital file with a copyright waiver, then have them printed where ever you please, although I take no responsibility for the printed products produced by vendors other than the ones that I work with directly. Department stores and mass printers are pretty common, so they are fairly convenient to get to. Department stores are usually limited to prints that are 8x10 or smaller. They are decent enough for vacation pictures and school projects. However, I find the quality to suffer. The colors are flat, you’re forced to buy glossy paper, the kid behind the counter doesn’t always know what they are doing. In some cases I’ve seen the focus on the picture get soft and in other cases it was artificially sharpened. Even worse, the color is not always calibrated and your pictures have too much yellow or green to them. They are also not guaranteed to stay around long enough to become precious heirlooms for your senior's children and grandchildren to enjoy!!!
Professional labs have a vested interest in keeping their professional customers happy. They are going to make sure the machines are properly calibrated and color balanced. You can choose several different paper finishes from matte to metallic and many in between. You’ve paid for professional photography for a reason. Have them printed on professional paper and you will be thrilled with the results!!!
