DILG to ensure fast delivery of vaccines nationwide

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) directed the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) to work closely with the Department of Health (DOH) and coordinate with Local Government Units (LGUs) to ensure the speedy delivery of vaccines to the provinces. said that ensuring the fast delivery of the vaccines is critical to the goal of achieving 4 million jabs by the end of June. He emphasized the need for LGUs
to report on the transportation mechanism for the vaccines, to monitor if said transportation is compliant with the requisite safehandling of the
vaccines, following another incident wherein two boxes of COVID-19 vaccines bound for the Polillo Island in Quezon Province were nearly wasted.

The last tranche of Sinovac COVID-19 vaccines for this month totaling to 500,000 doses arrived from China to the Philippines on Thursday, 20 May 2021. The Sinovac doses were purchased by the Philippine government. Presidential Spokesperson Secretary Harry Roque said that almost 4,253,450 doses of COVID-19 vaccines were delivered to the Philippines for this month – 3,000 doses of Sputnik V, 2,000,000 doses of Sinovac, 2,030,400 doses of AstraZeneca and 193,050 doses of Pfizer. The Philippines expects an additional of 2.2 million doses of Pfizer vaccines and 1.3 million
