Changing of the guards in healthcare sector By MJ Blancaflor - Daily Tribune
The public should not worry about reports that hundreds of health care workers from private hospitals are quitting their jobs to work abroad amid the coronavirus pandemic, Malacañang said Thursday. Speaking at a televised briefing, presidential spokesperson Secretary Harry Roque assured the public that the country has enough board passers and graduates who can fill in the vacancies left by medical professionals. The Palace official also noted that the government imposed an annual deployment cap for nurses to prevent a shortage of medical front liners during the health crisis.

DFA files fresh protests against China By Sundy Locus - Daily Tribune
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said it has launched fresh protests against China over its “unlawful issuance” of radio warnings on Philippine authorities patrolling the West Philippine Sea. “The DFA protested the unlawful issuance of over 200 radio challenges, sounding of sirens, and blowing of horns by Chinese government vessels against Philippine authorities conducting legitimate, customary, and routine patrols over and
around the Philippines’ territory and maritime zones,” the agency said in a series of Twitter posts on Wednesday (October 20). “These provocative acts threaten the peace, good order, and security of the South China Sea and run contrary to China’s obligations under international law,” it added. The DFA said the latest protest was lodged on 30 September and covers similar incident which transpired between the Philippines and Chinese coast guards in August.
