Super Social Explorers

ages 7–11

An after-school program for children who have social and communication challenges Super Social Explorers offers elementary-aged students the opportunity to participate in cooperative play and everyday activities within peer dyads and small groups Kids will get to meet and engage in fun activities to practice different social skills This includes a focus on skills such as staying with the group, greetings, turn taking, participating independently in activities and brief exchanges with peers

Activities such as freeze dance, rain stick creations, making playdough, obstacle courses, cause and effect science and other sensory fun! Completion of support form required

Yoga for Exceptional Children

Yoga for Exceptional Children is an introduction to the basic of yoga, meditation, and mindfulness for neurodivergent kids We’ll teach kids about yoga postures, breathing and mediation, using music, humor, crafts and fun!

Kids who know nothing about yoga will get in touch with their bodies and breath—they might just dance home and tell their parents to try a down dog and relax

This class will explore a variety of contemporary artists and explore different methods and forms of creating art Students draw, collate and paint each week with projects that allow them to express their creativity Barbara’s kindness, patience and experience as an educator make her a master in teaching artist of all abilities the wonders of creating art . Barbara Brock is a Bay Area native and lifelong artist and especially loves water coloring and drawing in her spare time She received her Bachelor’s from University of Oregon and her Master’s in Education from UC Berkeley . She currently teaches 4th grade at Joaquin Miller Elementary and incorporates art into instruction through various mediums

Barbara’s knowledge and experience with neurodiverse students ranges from creating adaptive curriculum for her neurodiverse students in her classroom to weekly one-on-one academic support with special needs students She can’t wait to share her passion for art with your learners and encourage a passion for art in them!
