Picture Book Art

Explorations

We will immerse ourselves each day in the work of one or more picture book artists. We will intersperse lots of read-alouds with art making inspired and informed by these books. We will use multiple art media in our art-making and also learn about the structure and particular art form of the picture book. There will be a snack and socializing time each day (snack from home). All art materials are provided. Students will come home with some fun picture book inspired pieces and ideas for further creations. Material Fee: $35

Art & Action

Join our dynamic small group summer camp to exercise your creativity and get active. Each day campers will take on cool art projects and challenging, fun activities. Some days will be dedicated to clay projects and Kung Fu. Kung Fu will start with a brief meditation and move into warm up games and non-competitive mixed martial arts practice. The Kung Fu section will end with breaking a board with a punch or kick (optional). Other days will have organized active games and changing art themes (e.g. marbleized rocks, slime, light jars, etc.). There will also be free time each day, walk on stilts, balance on a slack line, read, make giant bubbles, play board games, play on the climbing structure or draw. Two special snacks will be provided each week.

Art Workshop

This is a class for experimenting with a variety of materials while honing in all the fundamentals. We will draw, paint, print and work with both traditional and non-traditional materials. We will use a variety of papers and also work with fabric and do some sculpting.

There will be a combination of directed and independent projects. There will be a snack time each day (provided by home). All art materials included. Students will come home with fun creations as well as ideas for further creations. Material Fee: $28

Mixed Media Art Workshop

We will draw, paint, print, collage and beyond using a variety of media. There will be shared directed projects as well as an opportunity for students to work on their own independent pieces. We will keep the fundamentals at the core of our art-making-line and shape, color and composition etc. as well as experiment and explore. There will be snack (coming from home) and socializing time each day. All art materials provided. Students will come home with a variety of creations as well as ideas and inspiration for further creating.
