Become one of the sought after Babysitters in town by joining the Safe Sitters program!

Students are being called upon to navigate the differences they encounter online and offline. But without a solid understanding of gender role training, anti-racism, and various forms of oppression, it’s not easy to see one’s own blind spots—or the blind spots of others. In this three-part workshop, students gain an understanding of sexism, racism and other forms of oppression in order to help them make choices that respect their own dignity as well as the dignity of others.

Learn the basics in First Aid, CPR and helpful techniques in working with children of different ages. Build confidence about your babysitting abilities by learning resources that will help you during your time with the kids. From fun activities, to problem solving strategies for challenges, to how to handle emergencies, we will be covering the many topics that can arise when you are caring for someone’s children. Take your love of kids to a whole new level! Piedmont Rec Department

A message from your

Director

As we close out 2017, PRD is excited to welcome two new full-time employees to our team. John Wilk was hired as our Facilities and Events Coordinator in September after more than a year supporting our Middle School Sports and Facility Rentals in a part-time capacity. In November, Steven Chavarria began as our Sports Coordinator and walked right in to the gymnasiums and nearly 600 Piedmont youth registered for our Rec Basketball programs.

As we move in to 2018, PRD will once again offer a wide range of Winter/Spring programs to our community. We continue to work closely with Piedmont Middle School to provide diverse after school enrichment opportunities, the Piedmont Community Pool is finding creative ways to meet increased demand for water polo across many age groups and we will continue to partner with PUSD and community groups to provide and support programs and initiatives around respect, inclusion and healthy relationships. Please be on the lookout for opportunities to engage in the Linda Beach Playfield Master Planning process this Winter and Spring. With the exception of the field itself, we will be examining everything between the Oakland Avenue Bridge and Beach Schoolmates and between Howard and Linda Avenues for improvements and enhancements. Our beloved Winter/Spring traditions return again this year. Santa and His Elves will host breakfast at the Community Hall on December 9, the Bunny Blast will take place in the Main Park on March 24, and the Piedmont Community Pool will host an Egg Dive on March 31.
