PRD OFFERS SIX PLAY-BASED PROGRAMS Our team of educators is committed to providing a warm and safe environment to best support children’s natural curiosity and enthusiasm for learning. We are dedicated to the development of a school/home community in which teachers and families learn and grow together. We offer structure and flexibility to encourage individual exploration and growth. Because of small class size, children are able to create relationships that nurture social skills and explore activities based on their developing needs.

FIRST STEP Director: Maureen Isom 15 Months by December 1, 2020 (Participant must be walking by program start date) We want that First Step away from home to feel comfortable and safe. Teachers provide a warm and nurturing environment where little ones learn to trust other child care providers. Children explore and interact through playful activities, art, music, and movement both indoors and outdoors. A strong emphasis is placed on sharing, taking turns and respecting personal space. 10 Children / 3 Teachers

TIDDLYWINKS Director: Alise Lanaux 2 years old BY October 1 or 3 years old AFTER December 1, 2020 At Tiddlywinks we learn through PLAY: For the magical YEAR TWO, children have the opportunity to develop independence, self-help, and social skills while they experiment with materials and develop friendships in a relaxed atmosphere. The curriculum is play-based, and as children explore art, science, singing, dancing, circle time and outdoor play/discovery time, teachable moments are instilled throughout the days. 16 Children / 4 Teachers

SKIPPING STONES Director: Fallon Spencer Children must be at least 2 years 6 months to participate. Skipping Stones is a play-based program with a curriculum that emerges from children’s interests, and individual, developmental needs. Within the context of short and long term projects, children experience learning at their own pace. The classroom is organized by learning centers for the children to explore play, writing table, art and science discovery. Each of these areas gives children the opportunity to flex their early math and literacy skills, through play. During circle time, children experience story time, music and movement, games, and finger-plays. 5:1 Student - Teacher Ratio

HILLSIDE PLAYSCHOOL Director: Kara Grover 3 years old BY or 5 years old AFTER December 1, 2020 Hillside Playschool is a play-based program that emphasizes learning through active engagement with the environment. With an emergent curriculum, children follow their interests and learn at their own pace with short and long term activities. Our classroom is organized by learning centers, which give children the opportunity to flex their early math and literacy skills, through play. More in depth art, science, cooking and gardening projects are offered based on the children’s interests and developmental needs. We spend lots of time outside exploring our garden, sand area, and taking many neighborhood walks. We strive to support self-confidence and independence while encouraging empathy and positive social skills. 10 Children / 2 Teachers

Integrated into these activities is a consistent focus on development of positive self-esteem, selfconfidence building, learning of pro-social behavior; responding positively and compassionately to each other; identifying and acknowledging our own and others’ feelings and learning to resolve conflict peacefully. Children are given the opportunity to make choices: they learn that feelings, thoughts, and emotions are worthwhile, discover consequences of their choices and gain competence in decision-making, which leads to the success and motivation in future learning. 12 Children / 3 Teachers
