From a participation standpoint, it was one of the best Mid-Year Leadership Conferences ever. Five hundred seventy-six brothers from 130 chapters traveled to Charlotte and St. Louis for a two day "nuts and bolts" leadership seminar. The event allows new officers to become familiar with their jobs and old officers a chance to share new ideas. The event also offered a peek at the new White Diamond. More than 2,000 copies of the new book have been sold to chapters and alumni since January 23, 1991. Foundation Director of Educational Programs T.J. Sullivan spent six months researching and writing the new associate member manual which is now available in a blue, hard cover edition. "The White Diamond is filled with fresh, new ideas that I think is really going to boost member education programs everywhere," Sullivan said. "The book itself really sets Pi Kappa Phi apart from other fraternities as well." The conference hosted the Archon, Vice Archon, Treasurer, Warden and PUSH Chairman from each chapter. Each had the opportunity to meet with other officers to discuss current topics facing the undergraduate chapters. Other topics that were presented were the importance of chapter scholarship, PUSH and the state of the Fraternity

illustrated by Executive Director Durward Owen, Asst. Executive Director Glenn Dickson and Sullivan. Sacramento St.'s David Fitzhugh received the "endurance award." His two day bus trip to St. Louis became fraternity legend when the man seated next to him on the bus died in his seat! He also had his luggage lost in the process!

When an alumnus makes a contribution to the Pi Kappa Phi Foundation, he makes these types of leadership events possible for the undergraduate chapters to continue the Pi Kapp tradition. The next major leadership school will be Pi Kapp College August 15-18, 1991 at the College of Charleston, our founding, in Charleston, S.C.

Pi Kapp leads all Army forces against Iraq As the threat of a ground war draws closer in the Gulf crisis, the United States will soon be turning to Lt. General John Yeosock to lead the assault to, in the words of Pres. George Bush, "liberate" Kuwait from Iraq. Lt. Gen. Yeosock is a Pi Kapp from Alpha Mu-Penn. St. Chapter. Yeosock commands all 280,000 U.S. Army forces in Saudi Arabia, and should a ground assault commence, Yeosock will be the principal commander on-scene. Yeosock (a three-star general) reports directly to Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf who reports to Bush. Brother John Yeosock's present assignment is Deputy Commanding General, United States Forces Command, Third United States Army (Commander,ARCENT, Desert Storm). He has been stationed in Saudi Arabia since August 1990. The territory is familiar to Yeosock
