Re-colonization at OU! With the beginning of a new semester brings new opportunity for the University of Oklahoma and Pi Kappa Phi. This August, two expansion consultants from Pi Kappa Phi National Headquarters will be in Sooner country to recruit new men to begin a new era for the Alpha Gamma Chapter.

Tyler Johansson, Chi 2010, and Bryan Janzing, Theta Iota 2010, will be the expansion consultants looking for men that are interested in being leaders and founding members for the recolonization of Alpha Gamma.

The expansion process involves the consultants seeking new men to join and an associate chapter consultant helping throughout the entire associate membership process. During this time, the potential new members will learn what it is to be a Pi Kappa Phi and work to re-charter the

chapter.

“I’m excited for Norman and the opportunity to return to OU,” said Johansson. “The OU fraternity and sorority

said Janzing. “We have a great history at OU and we’re excited for the opportunity to go back!”

An interest group started at OU and men interested in becoming a member of Pi Kappa Phi are excited to see what the semester has in store.

“Already, we have assembled a diverse group of guys of strong character who are ecstatic about building a successful chapter, but there’s plenty of room for more,” said Shane Pruitt, leader of the Pi Kappa Phi interest group at OU. The Pi Kappa Phi expansion team will be attending three football games this semester.

They hope to see a lot of alumni at the OU vs. FSU football game September 11! Go Sooners!

Jason Sanders Alumni Spotlight After graduating from OU in 2000 with a B.S. in Biochemistry, Jason traveled to Oxford, England, to study English Language and Literature as a Rhodes Scholar. The most meaningful part of this experience was the friendships he made with both Americans and students from other countries. Another privilege of this time was the opportunity to learn from inspiring people in fields outside the sciences or English, such as foreign policy and economics. Traveling across Great Britain and Europe with his wife Tammy filled up most college ‘vacations’. Then in the Fall of 2003, he began medical training at Harvard Medical School. By far the most fulfilling milestone was the 3rd year of medical school, when he finally had the chance to care for patients on the medical wards. Given the strong currents of healthcare policy, economics, and innovation in Boston, Jason decided to join the newly-formed MD/MBA program at Harvard Business School, becoming the first official graduate in 2008. Subsequently he completed an internship in the Department of Medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital (featured recently in the TV show ‘Boston Med’). There he cared for patients in a small primary care clinic as well as on inpatient services, spending time with amazing clinicians as well as the hospital president (also an MD/MBA) to learn about management. Since the summer of 2009, he has been working as a healthcare consultant at McKinsey & Company in Boston, serving clients across the healthcare landscape, from hospitals, to pharmaceutical companies, to health insurers. Currently he is a part of a new initiative called the McKinsey Hospital Institute, which comprehensively serves community hospitals, especially as their organizations prepare for healthcare reform changes. He always looks forward to his biannual trips back to the OU Honors College to counsel students who are applying for national fellowships and graduate schools; their energy, curiosity, and insights are impressive, he says, teaching me much more than I am able to impart to them.

We Want OU Pi Kappa Phi Alumni!

Join all Alpha Gamma alumni the weekend of September 10 - 11, 2010 for the OU vs. Florida State game. This will be the first big Alpha Gamma alumni event since the 75th Anniversary. Make plans to attend and see your old fraternity brothers. Also meet the future brothers bringing Pi Kappa Phi back to the next level and show them the alumni support they have!
