A WORD FROM THE ARCHON

BY DYLAN PURE

The spring semester has flown by. As we look forward to Little 500 and the end of a great year, we can be proud to reflect on quite a few positives over the last semester. We took home the Executive Award at the Pi Kappa Phi National Leadership Conference, we saw the revitalization of the bike team, and continued our strong relationship with Stonebelt. In the coming weeks as we close out the year we will be hosting one of our largest and well organized philanthropy events in years; a Powder Puff Tournament involving all sororities on campus. We look forward to continuing on a positive path, continuing to expand our relationship with our alumni base, and coming back strong once again at the start of the new academic year.

RITUAL OF INITIATION

BY JOHNNY NOWICKI

This past ROI was one of the best in recent years. 32 new Brothers were initiated by two complete teams operated continuously with little supervision and no problems. The success of the ROI was due to the work of our Chaplain, Sam Wandolowski, who became a Pi Kappa Phi Certified Ritualist in January. His leadership and the cooperation of the Brothers playing the various roles was outstanding. The omega man was given the same ROI as others and all his associate class members waited to greet him with a loud cheer. Sam is already thinking of ways to make the next ROI even better!

LITTLE 500 UPDATE

BY ERIC HULSE

After just falling short of qualifying for the Little 500 in 2011, the Pi Kappa Phi cycling team is back and ready for the 2012 racing season after a rigorous off-season of training. On March 24, Pi Kappa Phi Cycling qualified 22nd out of 50+ teams vying for 33 spots in the race. This year’s team consists of Sophomores Casey Crist and Mike Jank, Junior Captain Eric Hulse, and Senior Chris Hotwagner. Pi Kappa Phi Cycling looks to perform well in the men’s race which will be held at Bill Armstrong Stadium on April 21, at 2 p.m.
