War of the Roses - 2017 For the Ability Experience

This year’s rendition of War of the Roses included our traditional events such as the indoor soccer tournament and Rose Pageant, but also a couple of new events as well. One of which was Water Wars. Sororities competed to fill water jugs full of change for the Ability Experience. On top of this, the Rose candidates were tasked with creating their own star shield that incorporated both the Ability Experience and their own philanthropy.

In the end, Gamma Phi Beta won the overall contest, while Tri Delta’s Danielle Field was crowned our Rose Queen (pictured left). One of the chapter’s goals for this coming year is to hold more philanthropy events, small and large scale, that include both Sororities and Fraternities.

This year’s Parent’s Weekend was a huge success. The weekend started off with a Dad’s barbeque at The Lighthouse, followed by Tower of Power (yes, the parents participated!). On Saturday, the parents were treated to a breakfast of danishes and mimosas before heading to the Football Spring Game at Autzen Stadium. After the game, we all went to Webfoot for some post-game food. While that was it for the majority of parents, 4 parents were initiated into the brotherhood as Alumni Initiates. We are thankful to have initiated these men who are already leaders throughout their community and we believe they will make great brothers. “I’m very happy and excited to have initiated such great leaders into our Fraternity” -Drew Kriens (Archon)

Day of Service Spring 2017

CHAPTER UPDATES/Letter from the Archon

With Friends of Trees Brothers,

The men of Pi Kappa Phi spent the day in Amazon Park helping the local group Friends of Trees clean and help maintain our local wildlife. The brothers who participated (pictured below) include Jack Rubin, Cameron Clough, Chris Mattson, Kris Cook, Matt Maitz, Chris Garcia, Emmanuel Stringfield, and Max Nevarez. We are extremely happy to have had the opportunity to work with such an organization. As always, Spring term was filled with wonderful spring days and all the activities that you all partook in during your Spring terms in Eugene. We were lucky enough to welcome five new sisters into our brotherhood by way of pinnings, five new brothers by way of initiating our Kappa associate class, and four of our parents by way of alumni initiation during our parent’s weekend. We are all extremely excited to welcome every one of these people and are fully confident that they will live through the values of Pi Kappa Phi. Our chapter was also able to have our War of the Roses fundraiser and Rose Ball this term. Both of these events were extremely successful and the brotherhood had a great time being involved in raising money for the Ability Experience. Looking forward, while we are extremely excited about next year, we are certainty going to miss all the graduating seniors in the class of 2017. They have all made an immeasurable impact on the chapter, and we hope to follow their footsteps in continuing to build the chapter. Yours in Pi Kappa Phi, Drew Kriens
