And the Winner Is...
FRENCH QUARTER ! After a two year drought, French Quarter finally brought home another Koppel. Although it seemed rather rocky leading up to the three days of Fiesta, it all came together and French Quarter pulled off another victory. We also won best front and most original show idea. The judges were probably impressed to see a show not relating to Shasta and his inevitable kidnapping. Tony Martin designed and organized the construction of the front. Smo and Jerrod wrote the script with help from Matt Marici, and Chris Muniz choreographed the dances. Without the involvement from the Alumni French Quarter would not be the Fiesta Dynasty that is today. The ladies of Alpha Chi were blown away. Most of the girls were not around for the French Quarter Truck Stop and for many of them this was their first Fiesta. We definitely made a great impression on them. With Fiesta quickly turning into a cherished memory, the chapter focuses on finals and the river trip.

PushWeek
Beta Nu had a record breaking Push week this year. They achieved the centennial mark and made more than a 100 dollars a man. With the total donations totaling over five thousand dollars Pi Kappa Phi has asserted it self as one of the top fundraising fraternities on campus. Sunday started off with sorority flag football, while it got rather heated in the end, overall the girls had a great time. Alpha Chi came in first and Delta Gamma was a close second. Monday night was poker for Push. The buy-in for guys was ten and the buy-in for girls was five. A Chi O won first place. The empathy dinner on Tuesday was a great success. From the dinner alone we raised over three thousand dollars. The silent auction had some big ticket items like a basketball signed by the whole Rockets team, a foursome of golf at The Houstonian, and a romantic getaway at a local Houston Hotel. The final event on Wednesday was a empathetic guitar hero tournament. This was the first year we put on a guitar hero tournament. It went great and will be seen again in next year’s Push week. Penny wars really brought the girls out. By the last day we had accumulated over five hundred dollars in change alone from the ladies. This Push week was a huge success for our chapter and will help put us on a competing level for national awards.

Beta Nu won four championship titles this year. We took first place in volleyball, ultimate Frisbee, softball, and took the all-school championship in the four vs. four flag football tournament. The chapter placed second in indoor soccer and basketball. We improved greatly from last year by doubling the amount of titles we won. Although we are not in the running for the President’s Cup it is still an achievable goal for next year.

BDA getting out
March of Dimes On April 27 six Pi Kapps woke up early and volunteered at the Palais Royal tent for the March of Dimes. Ray B. was out there with his BBQ pit grilling brisket. We helped set up tables and serve food. We got tons of free brisket and had a great time at the March of Dimes.

Rose Sales The chapter held their annual rose sales this year at graduation. We woke up early and sold bouquets all day to raise money for some home improvements this summer. Instead of the usual, staying up late and preparing the bouquets, we teamed up with a florist who did everything for us. All we had to was show up and work the tables. We are expecting about two grand in profits from this fundraiser. We have also booked a high school ceremony and are planning to make another fifteen hundred dollars.
-Active Spotlight-
Ryan Argo
Ryan Argo recently stepped up this semester and served on the Push Committee. This was his first committee to serve on and he instantly went to work. With Tim taking more of a consultant position Ryan quickly assumed the leadership role and took this Push week to a whole new level. He is the new Push Chairman and will continue to serve through the fall and into the spring.

Josh Starr
After his first semester on EC Josh Starr has already integrated some great things into the chapter . Fines are now collected from actives who miss meeting and we are putting together an awards packet this year to send to nationals. This is the first time we have done this in a few semesters. With another great semester ahead of him Josh will take this chapter to new levels.
