Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity Association Inc: Beta Theta is official Beta Theta Alumni Chapter… Alumni Association… Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity Association Inc… What’s the difference? Well, let us clear things up. The Beta Theta Alumni Chapter is an official alumni chapter of Pi Kappa Phi (All Beta Theta Alumni in good standing are welcome!). We recently chartered and held our first meeting at Homecoming 2008. Annual dues are only $30, and give you membership benefits to both the Alumni Chapter, and Alumni Association! Beta Theta Alumni Assoc. is formally known as “Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity Arizona Alumni Association Inc”. We are

classified as a tax-exempt nonprofit corporation. The primary goals for our Alumni Association remain: (1) To take the appropriate steps necessary towards purchasing the Tucson chapter house for the benefit of all Beta Theta student members and alumni. (2) To provide a channel by which Beta Theta alumni may remain involved with the chapter and continue their fraternal experience. I hope everybody is doing well. If you have any questions or just want to say hello, contact me at Shar@bahmanilaw.com.

Brothers, I hope this online newsletter becomes the first of many to follow in an effort to enhance our communication with our alumni. The 2008-09 year was a great year for Beta Theta. We achieved many of our objectives and I would like to share a few highlights with you. Current Housing: We improved our management of the Beta Theta chapter house, with 51 undergraduate brothers living-in, and 53 slated for fall. Future Housing: We are in continued negotiations with the University of Arizona concerning the sale of the chapter house at 1449 N. Cherry Ave to the University in efforts to build a new facility on Greek Row. As information is available we will provide alumni with updates.

Financial Management: Through alumni contributions and increased rent revenue we were able to increase our savings by nearly 40%. Membership: Our first alumniʼs meeting was a huge success. Over 40 brothers attended that meeting, and nearly half joined the association. We encourage all brothers to join the association. Advising Student Chapter: The undergraduate chapter is doing extremely well at the University of Arizona. Over 130 brothers will return as active members heading into the fall of 2009. In 2008/09 the Chapter was recognized by winning the Chapter of Excellence award, something they had not received since 2004 & 2005. They were also a top-performing chapter in academics and raised over $15,000 for PUSH America for the 5th consecutive year. Most notably Adam Kaiser was awarded the University of Arizona President of the Year award! Congratulations to Adam. Lastly, as we recap the year I often think about several of my closest friends in the fraternity. Recently, I was visiting with Brian Klinsport and Ryan Sommers, and we were discussing all of the fun things they were experiencing with their other fraternity roommates; Ian, Rob, Adam, and TJ. I thought for a second; that if it had not been for Pi Kappa Phi, with the exception of Rob and Ian, none of these close friends would know each other. Our fraternity brought these brothers together as students and now their friendship is stronger than ever. I share this story with a request from all Beta Theta alumni. Please join the alumni association today, and help contribute to a great fraternity that is dedicated to rebuilding relationships and helping foster new ones. As always in Pi Kappa Phi, Jake Henderson Beta Theta #216
