Beta Theta Achievements On May 2nd 2006 the University of Arizona held its annual Greek awards, and the Beta Theta chapter of Pi Kappa Phi came out on top by winning two of the most prestigious awards presented at Greek night. By unanimous vote our previous Archon Jake Henderson received the award of President of the year at the University of Arizona. This is the first time that the Beta Theta chapter has achieved this award and Jake Henderson has earned it. Under Jakes guidance this chapter has raised more money for Push America than previous years, and

our chapter has raised the bars in all aspects of fraternity life. Another award that was received on this ceremonious day was the award of best overall chapter, which was voted on by all the sororities at the University of Arizona. This award is given to the fraternity that excels in all aspects of Greek life such as fundraising, social, athletics, and being outstanding gentlemen. This award is evidence that our reputation on campus is held in high regards, and we will strive to uphold our reputation as one of the best chapters at the University of Arizona.

Homecoming 2006 Homecoming 2006 is set for the week of November 6-11. The week will be full of events that will culminate with the U of A versus California. This year we will be doing Homecoming with the lovely ladies of Alpha Phi.

All activities will be open to active brothers and alumni. We are hoping for a great showing from all aspects of the Pi Kappa Phi family. If you have any questions please contact Alex Fishman at 913 –634-0507.

“We went out there and worked as a team, everyone brought something to the table. That’s how you win championships.” -David Murphy Team 1 Football

While the Beta Theta Chapter of Pi Kappa Phi has improved in all areas of Greek Life, we have continued our tradition of athletic excellence at the University of Arizona. Of the past 28 Greek League titles, Pi Kapp has won 13 while coming in second place 8 times. In addition to our dominance in the Greek League, Pi Kapp is the two-time defending champion in the Co-Recreation Greek football, soccer and softball leagues with such sororities as Alpha Phi, Chi Omega, and Gamma Phi Beta. While our brothers remain competitive during Co-Rec games, we realize that it is more an opportunity to have fun and socialize with sororities than show our competitive spirit.

While the brothers of Pi Kappa Phi excel in all sports, our football team is by far the most-awarded. We have won the past four Greek League titles as well as winning the AllCampus Football Title during the past school year. Although much of the team was lost to graduation, Pi Kapp has continued its tradition of football excellence by again winning the Greek League title this past fall. In order to show appreciation and respect for those brothers who came before us and showed us how to “play like a Pi Kapp,” four uniform numbers have been retired by the chapter. The numbers 7, 43, 21 and 1 will never be worn by a Pi Kapp again, representing the achieve-

ments of Brett Erickson (Founding Father), Kevin Jack (Gamma Class), Adam Sacks (Zeta), and Charles Wisda (Zeta). These four captains led by example and showed the rest of the chapter how to play with both competitiveness and class. The younger brothers of Pi Kappa Phi have continued to show the excellence and sportsmanship displayed by such alumni as Brothers Erickson, Jack, Sacks and Wisda. Hopefully, Pi Kapp will continue to uphold our tradition as the most athletic fraternity and student organization on campus. We will keep you posted as to our future athletic achievements in upcoming newsletters.

This spring marked the annual event of the Pi Kappa Phi empathy dinner. This year the occasion was held with the charming women of Pi Beta Phi. The event went off with out a hitch and $1000 was raised from contributions from both organizations. The Beta Theta chapter looks forward to the War of Roses event in the fall where all 11 U of A sororities are going to actively participate.
