ready raised nearly $4500 this year. We are arguably the most involved organization throughout our campus community, with brothers being active in roles such as IFC president, IFC reporter, SGA, basketball team, and tennis team. The finances of the chapter are better than they have ever been, in terms of accounts receivable and outstanding debt. It’s an exciting time to be a Pi Kapp at MSU. I am proud and confident in reporting that we are the best on this campus, and that we are constantly growing stronger. Yours in Pi Kappa Phi,

Pi Kappa Phi recently hosted the Journey of Hope team this past August. The cyclist team included over 30 young men and alums from many different Pi Kappa Phi Chapters. The team was hosted by Morehead State University in Cartmell Hall. The Delta Eta Chapter provided lunch to the cyclists at CiCi’s where Pi Kappa Phi’s gathering together and discussed many different experiences they had made along the way. A friendship visit was held at Horizon Village, our partnership organization. The team interacted with Horizon Village members and played many outdoor games. Upon leaving Horizon Village the evening festivities was a great time of celebration at Buffalo Wild Wings. Buffalo Wild Wings provided dinner for the team and the Delta Eta Chapter. The team the next day started their journey on to Huntington, WV. We look forward to serving as a future destination and host for the Journey of Hope teams.

eant winner, Cara Hall, also won best talent. Cara represented the ladies of Gamma Phi Beta, whom helped tremendously with our philanthropy week this year. Thursday we held Zumba for People with Disabilities in Button Drill Room at 6:00p.m. with approximately 30 girls in attendance. Mikka Sowards and Grace Bentley, both members of Delta Zeta, were kind enough to donate their time and effort to instruct the Zumba session. We ended the week on Friday with our most successful event – Pathways Prom. This event was co-sponsored by Gamma Phi Beta. These ladies were crucial to the success of this event. They helped with hair and make-up for the female residents, escorted male residents into prom, helped decorate ADUC, and donated several hundred dollars for catered food through Aramark. Along with all these events, we had the Scaffold Sit all week long, as well as Penny Wars which was won by Chi Omega. All-inall, the Delta Eta Chapter raised $3,500 for Push America. As of the publication of this newsletter, the Delta Eta chapter is ranked 8th in the nation for raising the most money for Push America.

No Boundaries Week 2010 was held September 13-17th. The philanthropy week was a new challenge for the Delta Eta chapter as there were many new events hosted. The Date Auction was held Monday at 5:00p.m. Bids were placed on each Pi Kapp from members of several sororities on campus, as well as individuals not affiliated with Greek Life. The bid-placers at the Date Auction donated over $700 to Push America. A Space and Laser Light Show was hosted at the Star Theater in the Space Science Center. We invited the local Special Olympics chapter of Rowan County as well as the lovely ladies who bought a Delta Eta Pi Kapp at the Date Auction to attend this event on Tuesday night at 6:00p.m. This event was free for those in attendance. Wednesday was the 11th Annual Miss Push America Pageant, held in Button Auditorium at 6:00p.m. There were 15 participants representing Chi Omega, Delta Gamma, Gamma Phi Beta, Kappa Delta, Delta Zeta, Sigma Gamma Rho and Sigma Phi Epsilon. Over the course of the evening, each participant participated in an interview category, a talent category and a formal wear category. One of the judges for the pageant, Daniel Noltemeyer, also spoke on behalf of Best Buddies International. This is an organization started this year at Morehead State University, pairing college students with a disabled person from the community – much like Big Brother/Big Sister. A lot of Delta Eta chapter members are also members of this new organization. Our special guest singer, Holly Forbes, sang three songs for us this year. The crowd favorite this year was Brooke Lyons of Gamma Phi Beta. The third runner-up this year was Tracie Prickett of Delta Gamma – who was also Brother Nick Davidson escorting Prom voted Best Poise Question winner. The second runner-up was Kalle Cole of Chi Queen Debbie Burton from Horizon VilOmega, who also won Best Interview. The lage into our Pathways Prom. first runner-up was Cayce Crowder of Chi Omega. NOTE FROM THE CHAPLAIN This semester we have inventoried our initiation equipment and have come to the conclusion that a simple trip to the dry cleaner is no longer going to cut it for most of our things. Most of the robes are tattered, torn, and dirty (or caked with candle wax). Getting new equipment is a necessity for our rituals be look professional and appropriate. However, at the moment our chapter is unable to afford the new robes so we would like to reach out to all of our alumni brothers and ask for donations. The price for a complete set is $1,375 and we are hopeful that it will be possible to raise this amount so that our ritual of initiation can remain the wonderful ceremony that we all remember it as. Thank you for the donations that some have already given. On another note, last spring our chapter traveled to UK and initiated over 40 new members to Pi Kappa Phi! Their chapter is growing and doing well thus far.

On Friday September 17, 2010, the gentlemen of Pi Kappa Phi, along with the ladies of Gamma Phi Beta, hosted a “Pathways Prom” for the residents from the surrounding Pathways assisted living homes. The prom was held in a reserved room of the Adron Doran University Center on Morehead State University’s campus. There were approximately 75-100 residents in attendance from surrounding areas such as Ashland, Louisa, and Morehead. The Thanks For Your Support, prom included a dinner from Aramark catering.
