Epsilon Epsilon’s 30th Anniversary Celebration A Success!!!!!!!! Brothers of Pi Kapp I would like to take this opportunity to reflect on the 30th Anniversary Year of Epsilon Epsilon Chapter. More than 30 years ago on November 16, 1977, Tau Beta Chi Fraternity was founded at Clinch Valley College. During the spring of 1979, the members of TBX became an Associate Chapter of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. After one year of planning, these members became the “Founding 22” of Epsilon Epsilon Chapter. Pi Kappa Phi was charted at what now is the University of Virginia’s College at Wise on March 1, 1980. With the arrival of 2010, Epsilon Epsilon Chapter began a yearlong celebration of its 30th Anniversary. On February 27, 2010, the celebration began with a program commemorating the chartering of the Chapter, which was held on the fifth floor of C. Bascom Slemp Student Center on the campus of UVA-Wise. Probably the largest gathering of EE’s ever was in attendance. During the event, the Charter Members of Epsilon Epsilon were recognized and participated in a roundtable discussion of the events that led to the chartering on March 1, 1980. Since the chartering, the Chapter has initiated 395 brothers including 23 Alumni Initiates. Five members of the current UVA-Wise faculty and staff are brothers of Epsilon Epsilon Chapter. The success of the Chapter is the greatest reward that the Charter Members could ever receive. Other 30th Anniversary events included a very special Rose Ball 2010 held in April and the now Annual Tailgate held during the UVa-Wise Homecoming football game in October. More than 60 Brothers and their guests visited the Tailgate. Over the past 30 years, Pi Kapps have dominated the UVA-Wise campus, with Brothers participating in intramural and intercollegiate athletics, SGA, IFC, and numerous other student organizations. Eight Active Brothers were Dean’s List scholars for the Spring 2010 term. Pi Kapps at UVA-Wise have made their way to now being the Senior Greek letter fraternity on campus. One of the most cherished accomplishments of Pi Kappa Phi Epsilon Epsilon Chapter was the creation of the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity Hawpe-Donathan Scholarship fund in 2010. With generous contributions from Alumni Brothers and friends, Epsilon Epsilon Chapter is the only student organization to have established a scholarship fund at UVa-Wise. The Chapter also participates in various fundraising activities that primarily focus on Push America, Pi Kappa Phi’s philanthropy that provides special care to citizens with disabilities. With all of this, Epsilon Epsilon Chapter has established itself in the surrounding area of Wise and Norton as a contributing fraternity of young men. Other accomplishments in the first 30 years were the induction of three Alumni Brothers, D. Michael Donathan (EE 65), Neal Lane (EE 244) and Travis Kennedy (EE 246), into the philanthropic Nu Phi Society of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. The 2004 Supreme Chapter Merit Citation was awarded to the irreplaceable D. Michael Donathan (EE 65). Travis Kennedy (EE 246) was awarded the Chapter Advisor of the Year Award at the 2010 Supreme Chapter in Orlando, Florida. Alumni Brothers of Epsilon Epsilon are active in numerous professional fields ranging from the military to education and many more. Through good times and bad, Epsilon Epsilon Chapter has made a significant impact nationally for a small Chapter. I believe that it is fitting to congratulate all of the Brothers of Pi Kappa Phi’s Epsilon Epsilon Chapter. Fraternally yours Mark Collins, Historian Epsilon Epsilon Chapter December 2010

Giving Back to their Country
Being a Pi Kapp takes commitment, leadership, responsibility, and many more critical attributes. These skills that are obtained from being an associate member and an active brother help us succeed in other areas of our lives. Most of the core lessons learned while being a brother of Pi Kappa Phi carry over into academics, athletics, and careers. Some brothers took these skills to serve our country in the Armed Forces. One would assume that these essential work tactics would be all-important in the career of a soldier. This appreciation also includes all alumni brothers that are serving our country in the fire, ambulance, and police force. These men have committed their lives to protecting the people in and around the communities. Giving all to make this country a better place makes these men stand apart from the norm. Service to our country is a task deemed to be recognized. It requires a deep sense of courage, sacrifice, honor, glory, and pride. The dedication that so many EEs have given is something that cannot be repaid at any price. We recognize and thank all brothers of Pi Kappa Phi Epsilon Epsilon Chapter for their service and commitment to our grand country the United States of America. God Bless Mark Collins (EE 386) Historian November 2010

Epsilon Epsilon Alumni Chapter The Alumni Chapter of Epsilon Epsilon is proud to report that in our first 14 months; we have around 25 members and have been able to assist the active chapter, PUSH America and are currently putting forth efforts to help EE Pi Kapps that are stationed over seas. As a non-profit, we are a tax write off for members and anyone that wishes to donate to the group. We have raised money through donations and our 1st annual golf tournament this past summer. This upcoming year we plan to hold our meeting in late July with golf tournament in Louisa, Virginia. This year it is most likely that the meeting/tourney will be held at Tanyard Country Club; there, brothers can enjoy annual meeting, golf tournament, and cocktail hour at the same location. Families are also welcome as there are tennis courts and swimming pool there for our use. If interested in joining the alumni chapter or just finding out more about it; please contact Michael Dillard at michaeladillard@gmail.com. Michael Dillard (EE 251)
