“ELF”, BIG HIT WITH STUDENTS... The Epsilon Omega chapter hosted its first movie after Texas Tech University’s annual Carol of Lights. The event was a safe non-alcoholic way for students to come in from the cold weather and welcome in the holiday season. Almost 100 students packed into Escondido Theater in the basement of the Student Union Building. The event is now the chapter’s annual tradition.

PI KAPP PLACES 3RD IN DELTA GAMMA ANCHOR SPLASH Pi Kappa Phi placed 3rd out of 13 teams that participated in Delta Gamma’s annual Anchor Splash. The event consisted of mermaid rescues and synchronized swimming. Nearly $3000 was raised for Delta Gamma’s national philanthropy Service for Sight.

ALUMNI UPDATES

Brother Jackie Tu graduated this last December with his Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture. He has been accepted into the Master’s program for Architecture at Texas Tech and is currently the Adobe Campus Ambassador, specializing in providing students with resources that Adobe has to offer.

Brother John Gabryel Moreno, DO died October 15, 2012 in Chicago; Illinois after a battle with cancer. He was born on June 28, 1979 to Anna Navarrete and Joe Moreno in Stanton, Texas. John was raised in Midland Texas and graduated from Midland High School in 1997. He attended Texas Tech University and was a member of Pi Kappa Phi where he held the position of chaplain. John graduated with honors in Psychology with a minor in Chemistry in December 2000. John was inspired to study in the field of psychiatry while working for MHMR because he saw a great need for the underserved area of West Texas. It was his hope to return to Midland to practice psychiatry after he completed his residency at the University of Chicago. John was short of graduating from the residency program by less than a year. A memorial service and mass was held Saturday October 27, 2012 at 1:00pm at St. Ann's Catholic Church. Photo and obituary courtesy of mywesttexas.com

GREEK CIRCLE EXPANSION BEGINNING AND HOUSING FUND

Texas Tech’s Panhellenic Council started the discussion of expanding Greek Circle. Sororities have been asked to fill out a questionnaire to help Panhellenic understand how to better filter traffic on Greek Circle no later than April 5th. Pi Kappa Phi is hoping that all efforts from Panhellenic will bring another sorority to campus will

result in the expansion of Greek Circle and open up a third street behind Orlando Ave with more available lots. In hopes that we will have sufficient funds for the purchase of a lodge upon the opening of Greek 3 and another chapter building a new lodge on the lot, we need all of the alumni support we can get. We realize that this process

will be long, and at the moment, Panhellenic has tabled the idea until the fall, however it is necessary for our chapter’s survival and involvement on Texas Tech University’s campus.
