Chapter Takes the Plunge 10 Brothers from our chapter participated in this year’s Polar Plunge on Saturday February 20th. The water was a warm 40°. This year marked the third year that Epsilon Rho has participated in the Polar Plunge. The chapter is proud to have established an official volunteer relationship with the Special Olympics of North Carolina and thoroughly enjoys volunteering and

Π

helping out any way we can. This year’s Polar Plunge raised a grand total of $4,600, of which our chapter donated $720, the largest monetary donation of any group participating! The brothers also participated in a friendly fundraising competition with the sisters of Kappa Delta Sorority. The winning team was allowed to pick the outfit that the losing team had to lose in.

The brothers won, and the Kappa Deltas had to jump in pink and green with something written on them that indicated that Pi Kappa Phi was the best and had beaten them! The brothers would like to thank those who have supported our efforts for PUSH America as well as the Kappa Deltas for their support in this years Polar Plunge!

Revamped Inter-Fraternity Senate This year saw many changes to the LenoirRhyne community. LenoirRhyne College “rose up” to become Lenoir-Rhyne University. A new residential village which houses the Pi Kappa Phi, Theta Chi, Delta Zeta, and Cornerstone Houses was finished. Among the many changes that occurred, none was more recognizable to members of the Fraternity System than the reinvention and revamping of the InterFraternity Senate. Leonard Geddes has replaced

“The success of Pi Kappa Phi can be attributed to two things. From the beginning we had the right principals. But in that regard, we were no different from other organizations which start bravely but fall. Yes, in 1904 we sparked the idea, but it is to those men who came after us that we owe our wonderful Pi Kappa Phi… we have given you the past as we know it. The future we leave with you.” Founder L. Harry Mixson

Bruce Hayden as the advisor for the IFS. The new officers for the NEW LenoirRhyne University InterFraternity Senate are as follows: President—Wes King (Pi Kappa Phi), Vice President—Aaron Burns (Theta Xi), Secretary—Jacob Goedken (Pi Kappa Phi), Treasurer—Kyle May (Theta Xi), and Chief Justice— Joshua Anderson (Pi Kappa Phi). The IFS seeks to improve the inter-fraternity relations between fraternities and the remainder of the Greek

Community at LenoirRhyne through events such as ALL GREEK parties, cookouts, and various other social gatherings. If you have any further questions about the InterFraternity Senate please contact either Joshua Anderson at andersonjc@lr.edu, Jacob Goedken at goedkenj@lr.edu, Jason Lazo at lazoj@lr.edu, or Glenn Goorsky at goorskyg@lr.edu.

Chapter Receives New Chapter House This past August, Epsilon Rho received a new chapter house. While our old house on the edge of the soccer field certainly held many memories for us all, the new house was a welcome addition to the chapter. It is located in the brand new Residential Village on the edge of campus along with the Theta Chi, and Delta Zeta houses.

There are currently 7 brothers who live in the house, and the sense of community and brotherhood is evident to everyone that steps foot in the house. Buildings may come and go, but one thing is for certain, the memories that we all had at the old house will never fade. The current active brothers look forward to many years in the current house, and the

chance to make new memories in it. Additions that are planned include the addition of the pole from the stage of the old house, and the naming of certain rooms of the house after influential chapter alumni. All Brothers are welcome to come by and visit the new house at any time!
