SIMPLE CHOICES. MAJOR IMPACTS. Scott Sims #0272, Historian
What says brotherhood better than meeting brothers from other chapters across the United States. On January 7 to 10, Eta Omicron’s Executive Council was given that privelage. Situated on Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, the Hyatt Regency Baltimore served as venue that helped to facilitate comraderie and spirit between all attendees. This year though, the Executive Council decided to change things up a little bit. They decided to extend their trip by one day, by heading to the Nation’s Capitol, Washington, DC. This was the first time that most of the brothers had ever been in the east coast, let alone Washington DC. The delegates, comprised of Archon Lucas Cummings, Vice Archon Sean Smith, Treasurer Chris Garretty, Secretary Sal Mattos, Warden Evan Trevers, Historian
Scott Sims, and Chaplain Graham Ulyshen, and Risk Manager Luke Doylemason, while in Washington DC, saw among many other things, the US Capitol Building, The White House, The Washington Monument, The WWII Memorial, The Vietnam Memorial, The Lincoln Memorial, the George Washington University Pi Kapp House, and the Pentagon (and 9/11 Memorial). After a great day of touring, the Council made their way to majestic Baltimore. Nestled on the Inner Harbor, this year’s Mid Year Leadership Conference really did make the motto “Simple Choices. Major Impacts.” set in through each individuals track and through the main seminar. After arriving the Executive council headed to Hooters for dinner with many other PiKapps
from around the nation. As Graham Ulyshen recounts, his most memorable moment was when Scott stated “I have never had this much fun playing with snow.” Five minutes later Scott was also quoted again saying “Quit hitting me with snowballs!” All in all Mid Year was a great trip for all that attended. This year though the Executive Council knows that Eta Omicron is more prepared than most chapters to confront the issues and items that may present themself in the coming semesters.
