ZETA EPSILON CHAPTER

GEORGE MASON UNIVERSITY

Brother of Zeta Epsilon, I’d like to welcome you to our March newsletter. In this newsletter I’d like to thank our alumni for a recent gift and recognize specific gentleman that have contributed a significant amount to the chapter in the past month. We’ve also recently ventured to the University of Maryland to charter one of Pi Kapp’s newest chapters, won countless awards at Standards of Excellence, and paired our associate members with their big brothers to mark a milestone in their process. Finally, I’d like to recognize one specific alum for our alumni spotlight; I plan on including an alumni spotlight in every newsletter from here on out - if you’d like to be featured please reach out to me!

Our New Robes:

A big thank you to our Alumni for donating over $2,000 so we can pay for new robes. Thankfully, we’ll be able to retire the ones we received 30 years ago. Our current chapter could not survive without your continuous support and your generosity does not go unrecognized.

Chartering at the University of Maryland:

Last Friday, Zeta Epsilon’s Executive Board along with a few other brothers traveled up to the University of Maryland to charter the newly founded Pi Kapp chapter! This new chapter is very organized and was initiated with a little over 50 guys. It is great to see our national fraternity growing and we are all very excited to see what the future holds in store. This initiation signifies a bond between Zeta Epsilon and the new chapter at Maryland, hopefully leading to future joint events as we are only 40 minutes apart. Special shoutout to Alan Duesterhaus, ZE 3, who was there for the chartering in his capacity as National Chaplain.

Standards of Excellence: Zeta Epsilon recently attended the annual Standards of Excellence at George Mason, winning many prestigious awards and marking a new standard of achievement. Amongst these awards, Brother Juan Pazmino won new member of the year and Zane Clark won new chapter advisor of the year. Special congratulations to these men, keep up the good work!

could not have held the ritual without the help of Brother Vijay and Brother Curtis along with their superior acting skills; special thanks to those gentleman!

War of the Roses:

This semester marks our annual event, War of the Roses! War of the Roses is our staple philanthropy event that we hold every Spring semester in efforts to raise money for the Ability Experience. Our philanthropy chair has a great week planned for the event with many activities and opportunities to have fun, while raising money and awareness for a greater cause! The week of War of the Roses is planned for April 10th-14th. The week will be a great time for all, and I advise all to attend. If you cannot make it and would like to support the cause, let me know if you’d like to buy a tee shirt and I would be happy to make sure your donation supports the Ability Experience.

Alumni Spotlight: Brother Mike Brooks, ZE 418, graduated

George Mason in 2014 and was a member of the Alpha Omega pledge class. He currently lives in Crystal City and is a software engineer working for AddThis. Recently, he started his own company with three colleagues; Audicy allows you to record up to 3 minutes of audio content without video and share with friends in a hybrid of Facebook and Spotify. I encourage you to check it out in the app store and give Mike (mikebrooks92.@gmail.com) any feedback. If you would like to touch base with any active brothers or alumni please refer to the chapter roster spreadsheet. If you have any questions or want to reach out to the chapter please do not hesitate to contact me on Facebook or through email! I am fairly new to this position so any advice towards my position or the newsletter is greatly appreciated.

Yours in Pi Kappa Phi, Colin Davis

Associate Member Process: As we progress through the Spring ZE 494 semester and reaching our ultimate goal of initiating the current associate members, we have reached a milestone in their process – Big Brother! Big brother is a wonderful experience for the new members and reminds them why they chose such a prestigious fraternity. We
