Epsilon Alpha Update Hello Alumni, My name is Riley Johnson, the newly elected Archon of the Epsilon Alpha Chapter here at Elon University. I hope that you are all as excited about this Chapter as we are. For the men in the Chapter, our alumni are going to be very influential on our success as a Chapter. We look to the positives you have previously accomplished here on Elon’s campus, and are looking to replicate these in the near and long-term future to rebuild Pi Kappa Phi into one of the leading Greek organizations here on campus. From the current men who have signed their bid cards to join Pi Kappa Phi, we would like to thank you not only for the high expectations that we hope to achieve but also for your support and guidance to help us obtain them. Thank you.
Chapter Advisor I am thrilled that Epsilon Alpha is back at Elon. We have a tremendous history here and this new group of men will undoubtedly do great work in the Elon community. As the chapter grows, we would love alumni involvement, so please feel free to reach out to me at sleighty@elon.edu to learn how to get involved as we work towards chartering in Spring of 2019 - Scott Leighty

In the 24 hours between 6pm on April 13th and 6pm on the 14th, hundreds of Elon students, including seven Pi Kappa Phi brothers, participated in a 24-hour dance marathon called Elonthon. As part of a national dance marathon movement, Elon students raised over 450,000 dollars for Duke Children’s Hospital during those 24 hours. The Pi Kappa Phi brothers sponsored a nine-year-old Miracle Child named Josh. All the Miracle Children are survivors of conditions that could have been fatal had they not gotten special treatment at Duke Children’s Hospital. Josh was there to tell the story of winning his battle with leukemia, but he was also there to hang out with his sponsors. As the attending brothers found out rather quickly, Josh is as engulfed in the modern Fortnite video game craze as they are, and even got the opportunity to play at the dance event. Josh also was quick to demonstrate his skills in ping pong, not letting any of the brothers win a single game during his time at the dance marathon. It was a great experience for all involved and a special opportunity for members of the Elon Pi Kappa Phi Chapter to connect with such a high-spirited, inspiring individual.

Pulling all-nighters is not an entirely foreign concept to a lot of college students, but doing so to support cancer research and show support for survivors was how Pi Kappa Phi brothers spent their Friday night on April 20th. Relay For Life, sponsored by Elon’s Colleges Against Cancer organization is an annual 12-hour event in which teams raise money for cancer treatment and show love and support for cancer survivors, their families, and their caretakers. Our brothers set up a Pie-A-PiKapp booth to raise funds at the event from 6 pm to 6 am. We also came into the relay having raised over 2,000 dollars before the 12 hours had even started. The event was a great experience for the 20 brothers that attended, many of whom caught at least one pie to the face by the time 6 am rolled around. It was a night full of connecting with people, laughing with friends, and standing in solidarity with those impacted by cancer.
Great work by brother Chris Trabulsi for raising over 800 dollars for Relay For Life. Along with 25 of the other members we had signed up to participate in such a great event.
On Saturday, April 21st, Elon Pi Kappa Phi brothers participated in a charity 4-on-4 wheelchair basketball tournament sponsored by the Elon Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon. The event hosted the Charlotte Rollin’ Hornets, a wheelchair basketball program that promotes active lifestyles for children and adults with disabilities, along with three fraternities from Elon. While PiKapp started off strong, beating Sigma Chi early in the day, we were shown who’s boss by the Rollin’ Hornets team. Some of the players representing the Rollin’ Hornets on Saturday were members of the national title-winning junior level team while others belonged to their nationally ranked varsity level team. The Rollin’ Hornets went on to win the day taking the tournament bracket back home to Charlotte, but the participating 10 PiKapp brothers walked away with a new favorite sport and new friends made across teams.
