Philanthropy Report One of the many positive qualities of the Zeta Alpha Chapter is our passion for Community Service and fundraising for National’s Ability Experience. 2015 was a great year, but we’ve set even higher goals for 2016. For Community Service we’ve worked at the Outdoor Lab in Clemson clearing walking paths. We also helped remove an old storage shed and then replaced it with a new one on a concrete foundation. In addition, we’ve formed a relationship with the Clemson Downs retirement community. In March and April we will be hosting a car wash for the residents and conducting a service day to help them fill bird feeders, do small landscaping work and refurbish their shuffle board court.

Community Service Brothers spent Thursday, February 25th at the Outdoor Lab helping tear down a shed and clean a pathway.

Our Philanthropy fundraising goal for all of 2016 is $9,500, of which we hope to raise $5,000 this spring. To accomplish this, we have planned a Philanthropy Week and coordinated with Groucho’s restaurant so that a portion of their gross proceeds on March 30th go towards our Ability Experience goal. On March 31 st we will be holding a fundraiser social at Y-beach that will include lawn games, a volleyball tournament, and a prize raffle. On April 1st we will be holding an Ability Experience Bikea-thon where bike riders and the miles they pedal will be sponsored by Greek organizations, individuals, and local businesses. If you’d like to learn more or would be interested in making a donation or a pledge, let me know! Brenton Davis Philanthropy Chairman

Brother in the Spotlight

Letter from the Archon

Matt Forster Dear Alumni and Brothers of Zeta Alpha,

Matt is a fifth-year senior from Lexington, South Carolina, studying Construction Science and Management. After graduation Matt plans to work in the construction industry as a project manager and eventually wants to build stadiums. In his 2 years in Zeta Alpha, he served as the chapter’s Archon and helped lead the chapter through its rechartering process.

Zeta Alpha’s Alumni Chapter received formal recognition in 2015

It's been an exciting and successful first year since the Re-Chartering of Zeta Alpha. Our chapter has progressed and grown, and we now have 92 brothers in the chapter along with 8 associates. Just recently our Chapter Officers attended Pi Kapp College where our chapter received the award for Outstanding Service and Philanthropy after raising over $5000 in 2015 for the Ability Experience. In the fall we partnered with Gamma Phi Beta and won first place in the non-moving homecoming float competition. We also won Gamma Phi Beta's lip sync philanthropy competition. It's been an exciting yet humbling experience being able to contribute to this chapter’s great history, and we're excited to meet y'all and share some stories at the Alumni tailgate coming up! Fraternally, Tom Curry

ALUMNI UPDATES Just a year ago, a group of ZA Alumni traveled to Clemson and signed a petition requesting formal recognition by the National organization. Since that day, we’ve created by-laws, selected officers, conducted a membership campaign and held our first ever Alumni Tailgate at Clemson’s home football game against FSU.

It was a little interesting trying to schedule (and reschedule) around the rains this fall, but we had great fun nonetheless. We saw lots of old friends, made many new ones and best of all, we forged solid relationships with the leadership and many fellow brothers of the Undergraduate Chapter. Continuing the tradition – Please join us this April 9th for our annual Alumni Board meeting and the family-friendly tailgate afterwards with the student chapter. We hope to see you there! Mark G.
