THE OMICRONICLE

OMICRON chapter of Pi Kappa Phi ★ University of Alabama ★ Fall 2022 Edition

It is with great pleasure that I am writing to you as the Historian of the OMICRON Chapter We have decided to bring back the semester newsletter! I believe that it is a great and unique thing that the Omicron chapter does and I believe we made a good decision in bringing it back With our fall 2022 semester nearing an end, it is safe to say that we had an enjoyable time. The new 2022-2023 executive council has just been elected (introduced on the next page) and we feel very confident in the direction this house is headed.

Earlier this year, for the Texas A&M game, we had the privilege to host new Pi Kappa Phi National CEO, Jake Henderson. He picked an excellent weekend to come to town and got to enjoy the experience and atmosphere of a Ttown gameday! Mr Henderson was a great

This past fall, we had the honor of initiating 56 new brothers! This is the biggest initiated pledge class to date and we are happy to see these new members become a part of the house. Although there are many of them, we have grown closer with them the past few months and they have shown their dedication and interest to the house by showing their faces very often.

”Bound together in common loyalty” THE OMICRONICLE

We kicked the semester off by having the annual Omicron Open brotherhood golf tournament at Tall Pines Golf Course. It was a fun time and a huge success thanks to our sports chair, brother Chase Mangum, who organized it.

This past October, a long, hard-fought season came to an end with a compelling victory. Our intramural football team defeated Phi Kappa Psi in the 2022 Fraternity Football Championship. It was a nearperfect season, with only 1 loss during the regular season. Almost every one of our members showed up to watch the beatdown It was a historic and unforgettable moment, ending with an interception made by brother Zach Vigdor Hopefully we can bring home a trophy for the basketball and softball leagues as well Members of the team included brothers Alec Little, Adam Byck, Eddy Hyland, Marshall Petty, Milan Kaplarevic, Zach Vigdor, Julian Latty, Teddy Molineaux, Georgie Brayer, Brody Barnett, Stefan Maksimovich, Tyler Husseman, Colby Flaig, Josh Ferrito, Connor Benson, and of course, coach Chase Mangum

We are proud to announce that brother Tyler Le has been elected to serve as the next IFC Secretary. He prepared himself diligently and put his best foot forward to ensure that he would win the job. It is with great honor that we share this information because Tyler will be of big help to the chapter being in this position.

Last spring semester, we congratulated past Archon Robbie Khalil on being tapped into the 109th class of the Jasons Senior Men’s Honorary. He joins brothers Reid Hunt (107th class), Daniel Perkins (108th class), and James Sadowski (108th class).

We would also like to acknowledge Chaplain Teddy Molineaux, who has recently earned himself an executive council position on 3 different academic societies: Phi Eta Sigma (Alumni Relations Chair), Alpha Lambda Delta (Historian), and Undergraduate Historical Society (Secretary).

Secretary Lucas Weldon is one of twelve senators from Culverhouse College of Business representing in the 27th SGA Senate. He works on the Financial Affairs Committee, helping allocate a $250,000 budget. He is also one of two Omicron recipients selected for the 2022 Pi Kappa Phi "Extra Mile" Scholarship, the other being brother Karson Higgins

This past August, brother Grant Haidu lead a charity event for UNICEF, raising funds for kids caught in the crossfire of Ukraine. The event was hosted at Innisfree Pub and had a very successful audience, raising over $900.

Finally, we are proud of newly initiate Tommy Tilas, who is a part of The University of Alabama Hockey team. Although hockey may not seem like a common sport at UA, the team has been flourishing and we are proud to have a member in our chapter.

Having brothers involve themselves on campus outside of the fraternity is of great benefit to the chapter in helping it get better block seating and all sorts of other benefits as a result.

Congratulations

Alumni News

This past football season, for the Alabama vs Texas A&M game, we had a very successful alumni day After eating, we gathered in the chapter room and had a very productive and crowded alumni chapter Past brothers among many different pledgeclasses gathered in the courtyard for drinks and music before the game kicked off. Normally, we have only one alumni chapter in the fall but this semester we invited everyone back for a second round of fellowship. We had great turnouts for both of them and plan to start having them more often, including in the spring semesters.

The weekend of November 5, Jimmy and Karen May of Mobile, Alabama, hosted a gathering of Omicron Pi Kapps at their beautiful home right on The Dog River. The rainy weather and the Tide’s lackluster performance could not dampen the spirit of brotherhood from these Pi Kapps. With plenty of fresh Gulf shrimp and melt-inyour-mouth barbeque, no one went hungry and everyone enjoyed seeing long lost friends and their significant others. Omicron was absolutely the winning team this day!
