The Pi Kapp Aggie

DO Blast From the Past One of young leaders, Carlos Baker, was in the Cushing Memorial Library working on a school assignment and came across some articles about our 19901995 alumni. As the historian, I want to share one or two of these articles with all of you as they reflect on our chapter's history and success. Feel free to click on the three links below to open them in a new tab where you can zoom in to read the content easier. Pi Kappa Phi Alumni Tailgate Howdy gentleman! The alumni tailgate is this weekend! This Saturday at 2:30 PM, our #8 Fightin' Texas Aggies are taking on the #9 Tennessee Volunteers. The tailgate will be located at Reed Arena on the west side of campus. At the tailgate, there will be a couple TVs, BBQ, 5 kegs, sodas and plenty of Western Son Vodka for mixed drinks. This event will only cost $25/person for actives and guests, while kids can come for free. If you like to attend this event please RSVP on the Facebook event page and send $25 for you and your guests via PayPal to aggiedoaa@paypal.com. For any further questions or information, please contact Brian Robertson (briankrobertson@yahoo.com) as he is organizing this event. If you have not received any of Brian's emails related to the event, please notify me through email at historian@aggiepikapps.org. More than likely you are not on the list serve. by Wesley Kuehn

War Of The Roses This month from October 10th15th, the Delta Omega chapter will be hosting its 2nd annual War Of The Roses Philanthropy Week. The week kicks off with Pie a Pi Kapp on Monday followed by Dunk Tank on Tuesday, where participants will take aim at active members. Wednesday's event will be Penny Wars, where the contributors earn points for their sorority through competitive donating. Thursday's event is the TShirt Sports Competition, a series of three different activities entailing a cornhole toss, a threepoint shot, and a quarterback throw using wet T shirts instead of a traditional ball or bag. On Friday, the week culminates with the Powderpuff Football Tournament at Penberthy Fields. This event aims to raise money for The Ability Experience by engaging the sororities here at Texas A&M in fun and friendly competition. We hope this War Of the Roses week lays a foundation for future successes in fundraising and philanthropy. In addition to the daily events, throughout the week a “Spread The Word to End The Word” banner will be located at all events, allowing students to pledge to stop the derogatory use of the word “retard”. by Brian Kent

Pi Kapp Gear Thanks to our PR Chair, Lucas Delevega, the chapter currently has a PR link up for actives and alumni to purchase a variety of DO Pi Kapp gear. All orders will be delivered to the house; however, we will actually mail you your apparel if you'd like. When you check out, there is a box for "Special Requests". Please put your mailing address so we can ship your apparel. There are a couple of nice polos, columbia fleeces, tshirts and a hat if you are interested in wearing some DO PKP gear to alumni events, tailgates, or even around the office. The deadline for the apparel is this Wednesday, October 5th! by Wesley Kuehn
