Theta Tau initiates 12 Alumni

On the weekend of February 20th - 22nd, the Theta Tau chapter of Pi Kappa Phi hosted an Alumni Initiation weekend for the members of Kappa Chi Omega. On Saturday the 21st, the brothers of Pi Kappa Phi
initiated ten Kappa Chi Omega members into our brotherhood. We also welcomed our chapter advisor Dr. Don Scarborough and Honorary Member Mark Mosley into the fraternity. On Saturday, a debriefing was held where the initiates were presented with their membership badge and White Diamonds. After the ceremony, the brothers who stayed were invited to a cookout and flag football game on High Point University’s campus. “The initiation went extremely well and we could not have been more excited than to honor and initiate the Kappa Chi Omegas,” says Brennan Hand, Chaplain.
Executive Council Elected In November 2008, a new executive council was elected: Simon Quinonez (Archon), Ibrahim Kanu (Vice Archon), Brandon Narveson (Treasurer), Geof Racine (Warden), Brennan Hand (Chaplain), Andrew Realon (Historian), and Chris Hyde (Risk Management/Social). Alec Cunningham (Secretary) and
Brian Thomas (PUSH Chair) were re-elected at their respected positions. The new EC is hoping to preserve ideals from the old EC and incorporate new ideas with the new transition. “I anticipate great things to come and have strong faith with the direction we are going in. Since I’ve been on EC for a year, I can help the news guys in the right
direction,” says Alec Cunningham. The new EC hopes to develop stronger alumni relations, utilize committees, and put forth use of the Standards Board. Also, more brotherhood events and community service projects are in the works. The new EC is young, but hopes to push forward and lead the way as many of the seniors graduate this May.
The Theta Tau Times 14 Men of CLASS Recruited for the ‘Beta Class’

Some believe that the blood of a fraternity is the bonds and relationships people create. But within the fraternity, the blood is recruitment. Without recruitment the fraternity eventually will die out due to graduating seniors. This year the Theta Tau chapter is sending off 13 great men that have started this chapter at High Point University, and those men are leaving it up to the rest of the chapter to make it prosper. Therefore as a chapter we needed to make sure that our recruitment plan was flawless. Pi Kappa Phi’s have always focused on quality, not quantity. After rush week, the chapter brought in 14 men that have the potential to become leaders and do great things. “This was my first year being the head of the recruitment committee,” says Ibrahim Kanu. “Although this is my first year, it is also the building block, from which I can continue to bring in great guys, until my time as Vice-Archon is up.”

Volume 2, Issue 1 War of the Roses Pi Kapps had a very exciting week this semester with the first War of the Roses philanthropy event. Each of the sororities competed in a series of different events throughout the week. Day 1 was the famous Empathy Dinner where each participant was given a plate of food that they had to eat with a disability. Day 2 was the Volleyball Tournament and five girls from each sorority competed as a team in the brisk cold at the
Finch volleyball court. Day 3 was the Skit/Serenade, which is a first time event for the Pi Kapps. Each sorority came up with some type of performance with a provided theme, and a few brothers were selected to judge. Day 4 was the final day with the most points awarded: Jeopardy. Each team of sorority girls participated in a Jeopardy-style game and put their knowledge to the test. Also Pi Kapps hosted throughout this whole week a competition of Penny Wars. Outside the Café throughout the entirety of
War of the Roses, Pi Kapps had a table set up where people donated their change. We had four jars set up representing each of the sororities, but even non-greeks participated to support our national philanthropy, PUSH America. “This was an amazing week and we are greatly looking forward to next year,” says brother Scott Daly.
Remember when….
Chapter to Host First Rose Ball in April The chapter has rented out Club Triangle on Lexington St. for Saturday April 18th as the location to host the first Rose Ball Dance. Each brother will be bringing a date for this fun evening. A High Point University bus
will provide transportation for about 100 guests to Triangle, which will be decorated for a theme chosen by the social committee. At the Rose Ball, a special ceremony will be held to celebrate the one year anniversary of the chartering of the
