Zeta Epsilon (George Mason) Fall 2016 Newsletter

Page 1

Good afternoon, Zeta Epsilon my name is Colin Davis, and I am the newly elected Historian for Zeta Epsilon. I plan to keep the newsletter alive and today write to share our December update. It has been a busy month including the alumni reunion and EC elections. Ability Experience: In addition to continuing to serve Mason students with disabilities on Fitness Fridays, we raised $245 at last month’s Chipotle Fundraiser. A special shout out goes to Dave Wagner (ZE 34) for coming out! On Saturday, December 10th we will be attending the Mason Club Hockey Charity Game . Tickets to the 1:30 game at the Prince William Ice Center are $10; $5 of each ticket we sell will be donated to the Ability Experience. If you’d like to come, simply email back here and we’ll make sure you get a ticket and send you our tailgating plans! You can also support the Ability Experience this holiday season by shopping through Igive, an online portal that allows you to shop from more than 1,700 vendors! Sign up here. Alumni Weekend: On Friday, November 11, active and alumni brothers got together to initiate Doug Delorge and Keegan Duesterhaus! On Saturday, the alumni and actives went to Hogback mountain to play paintball. It was a very fun time and the active chapter was glad to spend some time with the alumni. The 30-year anniversary was an awesome weekend, and I am sure that the we will not wait to wait another 10 years for the next reunion. Be on the lookout for one in the future!

Executive Board Elections: This past weekend we conducted an EC election. We are very proud of our newly elected EC and plan to continue greatness for our beloved chapter! The new brothers in the positions are: Archon – Kris Roche Vice President – Alvin Adinata Treasurer – Michael Torio Secretary – Jimmy O’Hara Warden – Daniel Zlatev Historian – Colin Davis Chaplin – Michael Chehreh

Alumni Spotlight: Michael Utell, ZE 289 and former secretary and warden and former Build America team member from the Alpha Team in 2003, lives in Apple Valley MN and celebrated his 10th wedding anniversary this past July (whom he met while he was on Build America) and has two wonderful daughters, Grace and Lily who just turned 6 and 4. Michael is in his 13th year of teaching as an elementary band teacher. After leaving FCPS two years ago, he now teaches 5th Grade Band at three elementary schools in District 833, known as South Washington County Public Schools. Michael has been enjoying the time with his family up here in Minnesota and enjoys cooking, reading and being outside when it is not snowing. He has also become very active with his church, which is called Grace Lutheran Church. He currently is an assisting liturgist, lector, sings with the choir and the Praise Band, Grace Abounds, plays with the handbells and directs the clarinet choir. He also helps out with the young families commission and parents events. If you’d like to reconnect with Michael, or any other alumni, find his contact information in our chapter roster spreadsheet. If you have any questions or want to reach out to the chapter please do not hesitate to contact me on Facebook or through email! Thank you so much for reading and Happy Holidays! Yours in Pi Kappa Phi, Colin Davis, ZE 494
