THE ZETA NUSLETTER PI KAPPA PHI FRATERNITY

ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT MICHAEL CHADWICK ZN#6 Mike is being spotlighted in this edition of the Zeta Nusletter because Brother Chadwick has never forgotten what it means to be a Pi Kappa Phi and went above and beyond to demonstrate that this year. Mike completed two Push America Challenges this year alone. Both the Louisville Ironman and the Marine Corps Marathon. Brother Chadwick turned 40 this past May and has three children ages 10, 8, and 4. Mike also competed in the 31st Annual Brian’s Run, which is held on West Chester University’s campus and the surrounding area to raise money and awareness for people with disabilities. Mike would like to add that he is looking forward to the 20th Anniversary coming in January. Great work Mike!! Keep it up, we are all very proud of you!!

FALL 2008

Letter From the Archon Greetings my fellow Brothers! I would like to start off by introducing myself. My name is Anthony DeJesse, a third year marketing major from Philadelphia, PA. I joined Pi Kappa Phi in the fall of 2007 with the Alpha Xi pledge class. Since then it is has been a great ride and I intend for it to get better having been elected Archon for 2009. The newly elected executive board and myself want this fraternity to continue its great status and reputation on campus. 2008 in Review This past spring semester, the chapter was recognized as the 2007 Fraternity of the Year, the highest award possible in West Chester University’s Greek community (and a first for the chapter if I’m not mistaken). The chapter also won two individual awards: President of the Year 2007 (Randy Herring) and New Member Academic Achievement 2007 (Joel Velazquez). The chapter was also awarded the title of Champion Master Chapter (level III in all 7 areas of Chapter Excellence) from Pi Kappa Phi for the fall semester of 2007. To top things off, the chapter won the IFC Cup for the 3rd time in the last 4 years. Coming back from summer vacation, Zeta Nu had recruitment on their mind. We ended up taking a pledge class (Alpha Pi) of 14 men, which could have very well been a class of 45 with the amount of guys that came out. The main event we held during recruitment this year was our annual 24 hour Push-a-thon, which generated over $200 for Push America. In regards to Push America, we have also started a partnership with a developmental youth sports camp offered at West Chester University over the Memorial Day weekend called Camp Abilities. Your donations to Push America through the chapter directly affect that camp. You can visit the website at: http://www.campabilitiespa.org/ also, we have started communications with the university to help out their ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) Committee on campus. At homecoming, Pi Kapp was teamed up with Zeta Tau Alpha and won 1st place of all Greeks and 2nd place overall (Theatre always wins 1st) for our dance in the homecoming parade. Back at the house we had a very successful alumni event where I had the chance to meet many of you. On November 21, Zeta Nu had the honor of re-initiating the Alpha Upsilon Chapter at Drexel University. 12 men went down to Philly to participate in this honor. Zeta Nu is now written on their new charter as the initiation team. We are definitely keeping up our look and credibility within the National Office. With the passing of the national founding date, December 10th, it gets me more excited for the 20th Anniversary of Zeta Nu. I hope all of you can make it out to the event on the 24th of January so that I can continue to meet the great alumni that have been through this great fraternity of Pi Kappa Phi! Chris Bagnato (ZN#257) If anyone is looking to purchase or sell a house, Condo or apt in Eastern or Middle Pennsylvania, please contact either Frank Bagnato (6104763206) or Edie [Edee] Bagnato (4845579714), (Brother Chris Bagnato's parents). They both are real estate agents for Long and Foster and are ready and willing to assist you. Romolo Leomporra (ZN#11) http://www.supertullynut.com/ This is the bar my family owns in North Wildwood - #1 Tavern. It is our 40th Anniversary; my dad started it in 1969. The bar is known for a drink (Super Tully Nut) my dad invented in 1969. There is info on the website ---history etc. He is an Alumni Initiate, one of the first people to get initiated in the Zeta Nu Chapter. The fathers went before the founders. Super Tully Nut was part of our celebration the night we got initiated at 501 S. Walnut (our fraternity house at the time). Mike Radyshewsky (ZN#116) In April 2008, I moved to just outside Seattle, Washington. I am working as special agent for the U.S. government, conducting investigations. I'm still married with no children. Russ Dlin (ZN#132) I have been a TV stats guy since 1994. Currently- I work the Big East Game of the Week for ESPN (College Football) with Mike Gleason and John Congemi (replaced Dan Marino @ Pitt) and an NFL game for the Gus Johnson- Steve Tasker (former Buffalo Bill great) Crew on Sunday. In the spring- I work the ESPN College Lacrosse Game of the Week with Dave Ryan and 4-Time All- American Goalie Quint Kessenich. I am also the statistician for Championship Weekend (Memorial Day Weekend) held in Boston this season. Jim Ewing (ZN#117) I work as an Assistant Vice President at Merrill Lynch, and have been a financial advisor for the past ten years. I live in Cherry Hill, NJ with my wife Christine and our two-year old daughter Grace. Matt Sgro (ZN#123) Boot Camps With a Purpose Inc. has 4 locations for 2009. (wilm DE, Exton, W.Chester, Philly) The goal is to raise and donate $100,000.00 in 2009. ALL the money goes directly to charity. This is the real deal. NO BS. Elite Personal Training paid to have it Incorporated, Trademarked, advertised, Elite pays to run it and takes care of everything from the website to fielding phone calls. 100% of the money, every penny goes to charity. On this you have my word.

Ryan King (ZN#264) I fell in love with Jesus right before I graduated in 2005 and ever since have been on a ride of my life with him! Then I feel in love with Lauren King (aka Bezila) in 2006 and we are now married (6/2/07)! I am currently working for Amnion, (www.relationship-education.org) speaking in local high schools about sex, worth, value, morals, etc. I also lead a group called Is There More? http://www.istheremore.org, seeking to put our faith into action and constantly believing there has to be more to life than what we experience everyday. I am also getting my masters (MDIV) up in Philly. Finally we just bought a house in WC, 327 West Washington Street. Oh and in most of college I was a jerk (a-hole), I am truly sorry to anyone I hurt or betrayed, I thank God that he changed who I was. Hope to see you guys in my life again. EJ Briner (ZN#302) I am now living in Fort Lauderdale, FL and loving the warm weather. Josh Maxwell (ZN#279) I am running for Mayor in Downingtown. I will work to facilitate the growth of a unique walkable downtown district, be a liaison for residents and the police department as well as council. I will also work to encourage smart growth and energy efficient development in the borough. I have two years experience on the planning commission. I also believe the law degree I am working on will be an asset to the council and police department. John Nickolas (ZN#14) Well, I guess something out of the ordinary would be winning the World Series as the CFO of The Phillies and hoisting the trophy during the Broad Street parade.

Letter from the Editor Hey everyone, I just want to say thank you to all of you that have supported me over this past year in my effort to actually make something out of our alumni relations. I have worked hard to try and get everyone, young and old, involved in making our chapter great. I will be graduating this May, so this will be my last newsletter as an undergraduate to all of you. I will keep up the communication with many of you as I really appreciate what you have done/are doing. I believe that the best leaders need to be both teachers and students, so I try to take whatever lessons I can from all of you and incorporate them into my teaching of lessons to those “younger or weaker than me. I have had a lot of good success being a part of this chapter, and hope to continue to keep the chapter successful. So, I leave you with much gratitude and hope that you will continue to help me in the future as I try to do my part to build our chapter into the greatest chapter it can be. Thank you all and God bless!

Randy Herring ZN#277 Past Archon/Alumni Relations Chairman
