THE ZETA NUSLETTER WEST CHESTER UNIVERSITY – PI KAPPA PHI Chapter Nus As some of you already know, the chapter has undergone a serious facelift in the past year. For those of you who don’t know, the chapter faced being shutdown in Spring/Fall of 2006. Without going too much into detail, the chapter had a risk management violation and was forced into judicial and member reviews. The chapter only survived through the hard work of John Farley. He put the chapter on his back and went well above and beyond the requirements to keep this chapter on campus. Through his efforts, Zeta Nu was only punished with probation for a little over a year. Throughout that time, the chapter was able to implement new programs and re-invent what it meant to be a fraternity on West Chester University’s campus. Both the University and the National Organization recognized the chapter for their hard work. West Chester University awarded John Farley with President of the Year for his grassroots ability to rally the chapter behind a brand new vision. Pi Kappa Phi recognized the chapter as the Theron Houser Award recipient, or the Most Improved Chapter. Other awards were also given such as the Master Chapter awards for: Recruitment Success, Academic Achievement, Superior Associate Member Education, and Living the Ritual. That was all made possible by the 2007 Executive Council of Archon: Randy Herring, Vice Archon: Justin Greenhow, Treasurer: Bill Spekhardt, Secretary: Tim Borer, Warden: Mark Cunningham, Historian: Mitch Powers, and Chaplain: Alex DiMattia. Also, Please join me in congratulating the 2008 Executive Council that just recently took over. Archon: Less Cardinal, Vice Archon: Dan Green, Treasurer: Justin Pusateri, Secretary: Beal Le, Warden: Ryan McKenna, Historian: John Evangelista, Chaplain: Jordan Reese. For the first time in a long time, the chapter will have it’s own ritual robes and regalia. That work was done through the fundraising efforts of Alex DiMattia, who put together a local business guide for West Chester University students, and raised all the money necessary to purchase a full set of everything ($1400). The chapter, through the hard work of all those involved during the 2007 year, is currently in the running for Chapter of the Year, not only at the University level, but at our National level too. Also, for those of you who might be interested, the chapter is currently starting to conduct operations to fully secure a brand new fraternity house. This is a long process and everyone’s help is needed. The goal is to have a house that holds 50 of our brothers so that we can share brotherhood all the time. This would be a house recognized by the University and by Pi Kappa Phi. Anyone that would like to be part of the Alumni Housing Corporation or make donations to such please contact Randy Herring at PiKappSparkzz@aol.com or John Walls at John.Walls@VerbellaCMG.com. The chapter would like to bridge the gap that exists between certain alumni groups and between the alumni and the chapter. We know that many of you are excited about the April 5th networking event and hope that we can start to bridge the gap there. Remember we are all brothers and we all stood for the same thing at one point in our lives. Let’s celebrate that!
