The Sophomore Slump Many times, the winner of baseball's Rookie of the Year enters his second season and falters. The pitchers may adapt, the wear and tear of an entire season may take its toll, or the player may lose focus and become complacent. It is that last pitfall that is the most dangerous because it is not a physical obstacle to overcome – it is a mental block. With stats like 42 participating members, half a dozen successful alumni events, and the drafting of an entire constitution in a day, ZX's alumni chapter definitely leapt onto the scene with all-star flair. Now, as we begin our second year, we will see if we can maintain the awesome momentum of our rookie season. In January we met in Atlantic City for our annual business meeting. What really hit home for me though was the night before when brothers from nine different classes met at a local pub. For those of you keeping count that is over half the initiated classes. What this says to me is that the Alumni Chapter appeals to more than just a few brothers right out of college – it is an extension of ZX that appeals to those common bonds and values that brought us all to the same chapter as undergrads.
Zeta Chi Alumni Chapter Newsletter Volume II Issue 1
It is my promise to you to make sure that the Alumni Chapter continues to be relevant to all of us despite our place in life's journey. Brotherhood is timeless, and the participation we have seen in our first year is proof of that. Much of our business meeting in January focused on the activities that are planned for 2007. Now that we have graduated from Albright and cheap beer (at least most of us have), we can begin to do some really incredible things as an organization. A brother golf tournament and a trip to Las Vegas are just two of the events coming up this year. As great as these plans are though, they are meaningless if they don't serve to provide opportunities for ZX brothers to come together and spend a few hours or days with lifelong friends. I know that Rookie of the Year is a great accomplishment, but the drive and desire to achieve more must exist beyond that first year. That is why I prefer the sound of MVP(Alumni Chapter of the Year). Fraternally yours, Mike Netznik
