A VISIT TO SEVILLE
UNA VISITA A SEVILLA
On Wednesday , February 1st we visited Seville the capital of Andalucía placed 140 km away from Córdoba. We left the school at 8.30 and I remember I was really excited. During the trip, Esteban the Spanish teacher was interviewed by a local radio station about the main lines of our Project. He also explained us some interesting questions on the places we were going through.
El miércoles 1 de febrero, visitamos Sevilla, la capital de Andalucía situada a 140 km de Córdoba. Salimos de Córdoba a las 8.30 y recuerdo que estaba muy emocionada. Durante el viaje, recuerdo que Esteban, el profesor español, fue entrevistado por una radio local sobre las características de nuestro proyecto. Él nos explicó también algunas cosas interesantes de los sitios que pasábamos.
We arrived to Seville at 10.30 and we went directly to the Cathedral. It is an impressive gothic style temple built in the late XVth century. The parts i liked most were the Giralda, a high tower that we climbed up, the Columbus´grave whose sculptures represent the different Spanish kingdoms in the early XVIth century and the central altar with lots of religious images.
Llegamos a Sevilla a las 10.30 y fuimos directamente a la Catedral, un impresionante edifico gótico que se empezó a construir al final del siglo XV. Lo que más me gustó fue la Giralda un atorre muy alta a la que subimos, la tumba de Colón sostenida por los reinos que había en España a principios del siglo XVI y el altar mayor con muchas imágenes religiosas.
Then, we left the Cathedral and we crossed the Street to the Reales Alcázares (Royal Castles) a huge palace of a mixed Christian and muslim style from the XIIth century. Although the palace was really nice where lots of historical events Esteban explained to us (and I do not remember at all) I enjoyed more the beautiful gardens and the arab baths. There I understood the importance of the islamic culture for the Spanish people.
Después, cruzamos la calle para ver los Reales Alcázares un enorme palacio mezcla de estilo musulmán y cristiano que se empezó a construir en el siglo XII. Aunque el palacio era muy bonito y allí ocurrieron muchos hechos históricos que Esteban nos contó (de los que no recuerdo ninguno), me gustaron mucho más los maravillosos jardines y los baños árabes donde comprendí la importancia de la cultura árabe para los españoles.
We finished the visit at two o´clock and we had free time until four o´clock. We went to have lunch in a Mc Donald near the Cathedral.
Terminamos la visita a las dos y tuvimos tiempo libre hasta las cuatro. Fuimos a comer. A un Mc Donald cerca de la catedral.
At four oclock we met the rest of students and the teachers a we made a short walk around the city. We walked near the river and then we visíted the old Tobacco Company a magnificent building in neoclasicac style from the XVIIIth century. There a French girl sung “Carmen” and it was a really exciting moment.
A las cuatro volvimos con el resto de los compañeros y los profesores y dimos un paseo por la ciudad. Estuvimos en el río Guadalquivir y luego visitamos la antigua Fábrica de Tabaco, un magnífico edificio de estilo neoclásico del siglo XVIII donde una chica francesa cantó una aria de ”Carmen”· que fue muy emocionante.
Finally we went to the Spain Square where they shot some scenes from Stars Wars. We left Seville at six o´clock. I believe that the trip to Seville is one my best memories of my stay in Spain.
Finalmente, fuimos a la Plaza de España donde se grabaron algunas escenas de “La Guerra de las Galaxias”. Dejamos Sevilla a las seis. Pienso que el viaje a Sevilla es uno de los mejores recuerdos de mi visita a España
