INTERNATIONAL DNA ROOTED IN THAILAND PIM attracts talent from all over the world and employs many of Thailand's well-know experts in a wide range of specializations. The international background of Thai faculty and staff, most of whom have matriculated in reputed universities across the globe, is a core strength which allows many classroom environments to be a platform to satisfy learners' curiosity and challenge students' views and understanding. PIM also welcomes approximately 800 full time and exchange students from 30 countries and territories every year, which contribute directly to the international flavor of the campus.

HIGHLIGHTS OF 2020 EEC CAMPUS 2020 is second Pattaya, Corridor

the year PIM opened its campus just outside of the Eastern Economic Campus - EEC Campus.

The location is strategic, being close to the thriving industrial zones in the provinces of Chonburi and Rayong.

The campus architecture is largely characterized by natural lighting and open-air areas. The EEC campus is currently housing a great diversity of more than 500 students, including Thai and international students.

HIGHLIGHTS OF 2020 FOOD ACADEMY The much anticipated PIM Food Academy, a culinary and food business management institute was launched in November 2020. Food Academy offers a great variety of food-related experience and skill-building programs including short courses on entrepreneurship, food specialist; 1 day amuse & delicious cooking programs; and barista and icecream making classes. The Academy can also customize programs for group bookings. After the opening, PIM Food Academy warmly received positive feedback from many partners, which are business entities, embassies, universities, and international schools.

HIGHLIGHTS OF 2020 Embassy of Finland Commends PIM on the Institute’s Commitment to Excellence in Education

Mr. Heikki Karhu, Charge de Affairs a.i., Embassy of Finland shared his thoughts on the qualifications of teachers during the Finland and Satit PIM Education Showcase 2020 on 11 November 2020 at the Waldorf Astoria Bangkok. Over 100 participated in the event, with 4 representing the Embassy of Finland. Ambassador-Designate Mr. Jyri Jarviaho was also present during the event. “Being a son of two teachers, a brother of two teachers, and a product of the Finnish school system, I feel this topic is close to my heart”, Mr. Heikki mentioned as he outlined 5 attributes that Finnish teachers possess. The five attributes are respect, competence, trust, empowerment, and joy.

This session was moderated by Mr. Supachoke Opasakhun of Amarin TV.

HIGHLIGHTS OF 2020 FIRST VIRTUAL MOU PIM inks agreement with Seneca College, Canada, and PIM

23 September 2020 marked the official partnership ceremony between Seneca College, Canada, and Panyapiwat Institute of Management (PIM) through a memorandum of understanding ceremony (MOU). As the first virtual MOU signing ceremony, PIM hosted the program with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sompop Manarungsan of PIM and Mr. David Agnew of Seneca as key signatories. Seneca President Mr. David Agnew expressed that during this pandemic, "we get to know who our friends are who will continue to work together and move forward together." He mentioned that the past 6 months

has tested faculty ingenuity to find new ways to continue higher education efforts. PIM President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sompop Manarungsan shared his optimism with the cooperation saying that he looks forward to both institutions cooperating closely in various fields. Also in the session were the key faculty members who will drive the partnership forward in the field of hospitality and tourism, Seneca’s Ms. Angela Zigras and PIM’s Mr. Anuchit Saeng-on. Acting as witnesses were PIM’s Mr. Phornvit Pacharintanakul and Seneca’s Ms. Monica Kronfli.

HIGHLIGHTS OF 2020 NHL STENDEN NHL Stenden’s widely reputed international mobility program called Grand Tour selected PIM as its Thailand location since October 2016. Over 1,000 students representing more than 10 countries have studied minors hosted at PIM for 10 weeks at a time. In addition to coursework delivery in areas such as mindfulness leadership, international business, international Relations and tourism; PIM arranges cultural tours, company visits, and networking sessions for the exchange students.

10-11 January 2020 marked the first time that PIM hosted a cultural study tour to Pattaya in order to see the PIM EEC campus. The trip included 30 students from international relations, integrated digital marketing and event management minors.

HIGHLIGHTS OF 2020 NHL STENDEN A visit to Ratchaburi on 6 March 2020 was also arranged for the last module of students who was able to spend the Grand Tour experience at PIM for Marketing Management in Asia and International Relations minors before all international activities were forced to close its curtain due to the Covid 2019. Despite the difficulties brought by the situation, the usual activities were shifted to online platform, including cross-cultural research session and online escape room activity. Now, we are looking ahead to the familiar vibes back to our campus when international students from NHL Stenden return.

HIGHLIGHTS OF 2020 CHINA BUSINESS NETWORK Megacorporations from China has been increasing its presence in Thailand over the course of a few years. This is an opportunity for PIM to develop professionals that can work for these Chinese organizations. It is a priority for PIM to continue to strengthen its relationship with such economy builders.

HIGHLIGHTS OF 2020 SEMINAR ON LEARNING LANGUAGES PIM was host to a seminar on the "Holistic approach to learning languages" on 22 January 2020. The objectives are to empower participants and allow them to explore learning languages and inspire students and the general public with an interest in foreign language.

The keynote speaker is Mr. Thongchai Chasawat, President, Taipei Trade and Economic Office in Thailand. He was joined by two experts from PIM's Liberal Arts Faculty: Prof. Pichaya Tiyarattanachai from the Communicative English for Business and Prof. Olan Sumananusorn from Business Chinese.

HIGHLIGHTS OF 2020 SWEDEN EXCHANGE In January 2020, six senior students enrolled in PIM's International Modern Trade Business Management (iMTM) bachelor program were selected to be exchange students with partner university, University of Boras, Sweden. They studied for one term taking related

courses in international business such as e-business. They also enrolled in a beginner class on Swedish language. The students were still based in Sweden when Covid19 hit the country and learned many life lessons before they were able to return to Asia.

CREATIVE STUDENT MOBILITY PROGRAMS

WASEDA X PIM

Waseda University, Japan selects PIM as partner for the SAKURA SCIENCE Exchange Program.

This year, eight students from PIM qualified for the highly selective program.

Funded by Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), the program invites talented young foreign human resources for short-term visits to Japan, giving them the opportunity to experience both Japan’s cutting-edge science and technology and culture.

The application process involved the submission of the video answering why the participant should be selected to go to Japan. The process was implemented through PIM Connect. The winners will be traveling to Japan when the situation for international travel improves.

IR ROADSHOW Our office launched the IR Roadshow as a way to promote the activities and opportunities available for PIM students.
