ITANY FOR EASTER

One: This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Many: Alleluia! The Lord is risen indeed!

One: This is the good news we have received, in which we stand and by which we are saved:

Many: Alleluia! The Lord is risen indeed!

One: That Christ died for our sins and was buried and rose again on the third day.

Many: Alleluia! The Lord is risen indeed!

One: He appeared to Peter, and to the twelve, and to many faithful witnesses.

Many: Alleluia! The Lord is risen indeed!

One: At last, he came to us, that we might come to believe and proclaim this good news to the world.

Many: Alleluia! The Lord is risen indeed!

One: O God, you have your only Son to suffer death on the cross for our redemption, and by his glorious resurrection you delivered us from the power of death. Grant us so to die daily to sin, that we may live with him in the joy of his resurrection.

Many: Amen.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION Rev. Matt Drumheller

Resurrected Christ, there is nothing we can do to deserve that grace you give us. There is no way we can earn your love, there is no way we can be worthy of your forgiveness. And yet you shower these mercies on us. You, who have taken away the sting of death, meet us where we are, in our doubt and fear, in our regrets and shame, in our delight and awe. Meet us here in this place, and call us once again to trust in you.

SILENCE FOR PERSONAL CONFESSION

ASSURANCE OF PARDON

One: In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven!

Many: Thanks be to God. Amen.

RESPONDING TO THE WORD

† AFFIRMATION OF FAITH Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

† THE PEACE

One: The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Many: And also with you.

ANTHEM Alleluia! Christ is Risen! William Mathias

Alleluia! Alleluia! Hearts to heaven and voices raise; sing to God a hymn of gladness, sing to God a hymn of praise; he who on the Cross a victim for the world’s salvation bled, Jesus Christ, the King of glory, now is risen from the dead. Christ is risen! Christ the first fruits of the holy harvest field, which will all its full abundance at his second coming yield; then the golden ears of harvest will their heads before him wave, ripened by his glorious sunshine from the furrows of the grave. Christ is risen, we are risen; shed upon us heavenly grace, rain, and dew, and gleams of glory from the brightness of thy face; that we, Lord, with hearts in heaven here on earth may fruitful be, and by angel hands be gathered, and be ever safe with thee. Alleluia!

Alleluia! Glory be to God on high; Alleluia! To the Savior who has gained the victory; Alleluia! To the Spirit, fount of love and sanctity; Alleluia! alleluia! alleluia! alleluia! alleluia! alleluia! To the Triune Majesty. Alleluia!

SEALING THE WORD

S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

DISTRIBUTION OF THE BREAD AND CUP

One: The gifts of God for the people of God. Many: Let us keep the feast.

ANTHEMS Cantilene (from Suite for Organ, Brass & Percussion)

Awake, Arise! Howard Helvey

Awake, arise! Lift up thy voice, which as a trumpet swell! Rejoice in Christ! Again rejoice, and on his praises dwell! Let us not doubt, as doubted some, when first the Lord appeared; but full of faith and reverence come, what time his voice is heard. And e’en as John, who ran so well, confess upon our knees the Prince who locks up death and hell, and has himself the keys. And thus through gladness and surprise the saints their Savior treat; nor will they trust their ears and eyes but by his hands and feet: those hands of liberal love in deed in infinite degree, those feet still frank to move and bleed for millions and for me. O Dead, arise! O Friendless, stand by seraphim adored! O Solitude, again command thy host from heaven, thy host from heaven restored!
