Fortis Hotels Pink Weekends The Fortis Hotel Group consist of six Protea branded hotels and two Fortis branded hotels. These include the Protea Hotel Capital, Protea Hotel Highveld, Protea Hotel Hunters Rest, Protea Hotel Malaga, Protea Hotel Manor and Protea Hotel Witbank. It also includes the newly launched Fortis Hotel Evander and their very first 5-star establishment, Fortis Private Collection Akabeko. Derick Tait, the Managing Director of the Fortis Hotel Group initiated the Pink weekends. Derick decided to start an initiative where he could fuse exclusively gay weekends within the hotel environment. His vision was to create weekends away for LGBTI people which allows them to enjoy a safe environment wherein they can be themselves and enjoy a breakaway with their partner and friends without being judged or getting any uncomfortable stares from the public eye. The hotel is exclusively pre-booked for attendees of the Pink weekends and no other Guests are allowed during such a weekend. A weekend package is put together on a discounted rate per person sharing or a single rate. The packages normally includes accommodation, meals and entertainment for the weekend. We have had four very successful weekends, two at Protea Hotel Malaga in October 2015 & 2016 and another two in March 2016 and February 2017 at the Protea Hotel Hunters Rest.
