The drawing supplied indicates the supplies necessary for one side of the MBrace so when you order your materials for a pair of MBraces, you will need to double the order shown on the material list. Each vibraphone requires a pair of MBraces. Parker IPS can do all of the work for you from drilling holes to tapping and assembling. However, the cost in doing so is very expensive. If you have a saw that can accurately cut aluminum, you can save even more money by purchasing uncut profiles and doing the saw cuts yourself. I recommend having Parker do all the saw cuts and do the drilling, tapping and assembling yourself. Vendor Telephone Numbers:
Parker IPS at 1-800-333-4932 for Items I thru 16 on your material list. McMaster-Carr (562) 463-4277 for Items 17, 18, and 19. J.W. Winco 1-800-877-8351 for Item 20.
Tools needed: 1. Drill Press with 7mm , 9mm (or) drill bits and a vise. Note 1: If you do not have the metric size drill bits, you can substitute American Standard English decimal sizes: 9/32nds for the 7mm and 11/32nds for the 9mm. Note 2: if you do not have a drill press, Parker/IPS can drill the holes for you for an additional fee. This is especially helpful on the clamps (detail "A" and detail "B" in the drawing). The other parts can easily be drilled with a hand drill. Note 3: I have included a drawing of an optional tool that is helpful in marking the holes for clamps (Details A and B). 2. Hand Drill

Optional Tool for marking holes The following drawing is an optional tool that Parker IPS can make for you to help mark the holes you will drill on the MBrace Clamps (drawing detail A and B). To use this tool, simply glide it into the slot of the profile (items 2 thru 5) and line the ends of the whole marking tool even with the ends of the profile (both are two inches long). Use any of the M8 screws to tighten and jam down against the profile. This marks the locations of the access holes for items 2 and 4 and the clearance holes on items 3 and 5 easier, faster and more accurate.

Instructions for installing the PIPER MBrace to the M55 and M48 The clamps (see fig. 1) are designed to clamp on to the existing M55 or M48 1 inch aluminum square frame. No drilling is necessary. The only tool needed is the 5mm hex wrench provided. PLEASE NOTE: There are two types of clamps in the Mbrace kit. Two of them have a set screw centered in the slot of the aluminum profile and two that have only two button head cap screws. The clamps in which the set screws are centered are to be used on the pedal rail at position “B” (see figure 2) and the clamps which have one long and one short button head cap screw should be located at position “A” on the vibraphone with the long screw toward the inside of the instrument. Figure 1.
The clamps are shipped attached to a piece of 1 inch round Styrofoam rope profile to demonstrate how the clamp attaches to the M55 or M48 vibe frame. Step one: 1. Remove the four-prong black, plastic knobs from the clamps and set aside. 2. Remove one of the clamps from the Styrofoam rope. 3. Re-clamp it to your M55 or M48 into one of the position
“A’s”as shown in figure 2. You will have to remove one of the button head cap screws completely in order to fit it on to the M55 or M48 square tubing. Tighten them down so that they do not move. Repeat for the other clamp on the opposite side of the instrument. Replace the fourprong black plastic knobs to the “A” clamps.
Step two: Install the two remaining clamps to the pedal rail at postion “B” as indicated in Figure 2 - one on the right side of the pedal and one on the left. DO NOT TIGHTEN THE CLAMPS AT POSITION “B” AT THIS TIME. Figure 2
Step three: Attach the braces as shown in figure 3 with one side of the brace attached to clamp “A” and the other side attached to clamp “B”. Loosen the pair of black plastic knobs on the braces so they will extend almost full out. Slide the position “B” clamps as close to the pedal as possible (toward the center of the pedal rail) and secure them by tightening the button head cap screws with your hex key as you did with the position “A” clamps. Now you can affix and tighten all eight of the black plastic knobs and your vibraphone should be sturdier than it has ever been.
•
NOTE: To observe the difference your new braces make to your vibraphone, lock all wheel brakes and loosen the four black plastic knobs which are located on the braces. With the braces securely attached to the clamps, rock the vibraphone from left to right. Now tighten the knobs and do the same. You will notice the difference in stability immediately.
