Stockport Libraries

Get informed, get inspired, get on! It’s easy to join and it’s free. No proof required. Join at any library in Stockport. Join online or over the phone.

Borrow up to ten books for three weeks. Borrow up to eight DVDs or CDs for one week. Borrow ‘Talking Books’ for three weeks. Return items to any library in Stockport. Access online services free of charge. If you have problems using some types of library materials you may be eligible for some concessions. Please ask a member of staff.

Why should I join?

How do I join?

Books are free to borrow. PCs are free to use. Hire charges apply for all audio visual items. Concessionary rates available. There may be a charge for late returns or lost items.

You can request items we have in stock free of charge. We can also get books from other libraries outside Stockport for a small fee. You can use some academic libraries through Stockport ‘Key to Learning’.

If you need help, friendly staff are always on hand.

What does it cost?

All PCs are able to magnify and read aloud. One PC in every library has a large screen, keyboard and tracker mouse ball. You can book a PC in person at any of our libraries, on our website or by phone.

With your library card and PIN you can extend your loans, search the library catalogue, request books and suggest titles for stock. Access ‘Britannica’, and other online information resources. Use ‘Enquire’, a national library enquiry service, available 24 hours a day. Text 07624 805621 with an enquiry or to renew your books.
