Part Two of the Thesis Project follows on from the Precedent Study by taking the most interesting prefabricated scheme - Habitat 67 - and using the analysis and principles which I defined to re-imagine my initial scheme. The outcome of this is a concept proposal that still adheres to the principles of the original first semester project. Where neighbourhood, lanes and human scale are all still important. Adopting this method enhances many aspects of the project

The Thesis Project has allowed me to explore the idea of prefabricated mass housing in much more depth. Specifically looking at the process that are involved , the limits of each material and how each choice affects the overall outcome of the scheme - whether that be successful or not. From applying the principles of Habitat 67 to the studio project there is a much deeper understanding and rigour to the overall scheme - having designed using this method of concrete prefabricated boxes. The main conclusions of the project are that the Concept Thesis Proposal has a far greater architectural ambition that the Studio project, n the sense that there is a greater expression of the prefabricated nature of the scheme. The way in which the project is planned allows for a great deal more daylighting and better ventilation as well as creating a varying degree of spaces, ranging from private balconies to large public space in the centre of the block. Also there are more opportunity for views and vistas as the project has broken away from a very linear organisation associated with building in timber. Where blocks can be stacked and rotated to suit the conditions of the site. Essentially there are an infinite amount of possibilities as to how the scheme could go together, however the Thesis design has looked at one module and how that can be repeated throughout to create a scheme that is aesthetically pleasing. This essentially is what all prefabricated schemes should aspire to.
