Mastering watercolour techniques from his father, Camille Pissarro, Paulémile honed his skills, evolving into a highly skilled watercolourist with a prolific body of work. His preferred method involved creating watercolours directly in nature, working in a sketchbook in front of his subjects. These standalone pieces, distinct from his oil paintings, showcased his finesse and possessed a unique sensitivity. Paulémile achieved commercial success with these pieces, selling many through exhibitions organised by his elder brothers Ludovic-Rodo and Lucien in England. What sets this offered group apart, is the inclusion of several works from the 1920s, where Paulémile worked on a larger format. We consider these watercolours to be some of his most exquisite pieces, beautifully framed and well presented.
