This school year is also the biggest year for Sionahayz in the different co-curricular and extracurricular competitions as the students marked historic feats not only in Siocon but all throughout the country. For the first time ever, The Pis Siyabit, official English publication of Sionahayz clinched the highest award in the Editorial Page competition during the National Schools Press Conference in Lingayen, Pangasinan. Not only that, it is also the only school publication in the whole Zamboanga Peninsula to win any award in the school paper competition. This was after The Pis Siyabit was hailed as the best English publication of the Schools Division of Zamboanga del Norte and Region 9 during their respective press conferences. Also, Grade 10 Liam Iñaki Gillamac and Cristine Mae Java made history as the first Sioconian high schoolers to compete in the Regional Metrobank-MTAP-DepEd finals in Zamboanga City and

“Be and do much better each day with a sense of urgency.” This mantra embodied by the whole Zamboanga del Norte Division through our Schools Division Superintendent Pedro Melchor Natividad resonates throughout all corners of Siocon National High School. Entering the campus, the atmosphere of concrete development will welcome you as four multi-storey buildings are currently constructed. These will house the expected student population boom from 2,569 this year for both junior and senior high school. New strands in the senior high school were added in response to the fact that Siocon is primarily an agricultural municipality. The new strands are agri-crop production and organic agriculture. The school also hired nine new teachers. Five of them are for senior high school while the other four are for junior high school. Two Sionahayz teachers received recognition during the Division Awards Gala in December for their outstanding contribution to their fields. They are Mr. Saler Sabtiri, a Mathematics teacher and Mr. Kent Jestoni Gabo, a school paper adviser. The Senior

The division finals of the same competition was also dominated by our students wherein Grade 7 and Grade 10 were declared champions while Grade 8 placed third. Aside from them, Althea Mei Jamandron and Carlito Cloribel, Jr. also flourished in the Mathematics arena by both placing in the Top 10 for Math Quiz and Damath respectively in the National Math Olympiad in Baguio City. In the sports competitions, the school also produced regional winners like Ruffa Mae Mendiola for badminton and Linemar Camag for shotput who are Palaro qualifiers Truly, this school from a far-flung town continuously improves itself to eventually achieve the Department of Education’s lofty vision.

“FEAR NO MORE” Doxology

Every anxious thought that steals my breath It’s a heavy weight upon my chest As I lie awake and wonder what the future will hold Help me to remember that You’re in control You’re my courage when I worry in the dead of night You’re my strength ‘cause I’m not strong enough to win this fight You are greater than the battle raging in my mind I will trust You, Lord I will fear no more I will lift my eyes I will lift my cares Lay them in Your hands I’ll leave them there When the wind and waves are coming You shelter me Even though I’m in the storm, the storm is not in me You’re my courage when I worry in the dead of night You’re my strength ‘cause I’m not strong enough to win this fight You are greater than the battle raging in my mind I will trust You, Lord

28

I will fear no more (Oh-oh-oh-ohh, oh-oh-ohohh) I will fear no more (Oh-oh-oh-ohh, oh-oh-ohohh) I will fear no more No power can come against me ‘Cause You have overcome No darkness can overwhelm me ‘Cause You’ve already won No power can come against me ‘Cause You have overcome (Oh-oh-oh-ohh, oh-oh-ohohh) No darkness can overwhelm me ‘Cause You’ve already won (Oh-oh-oh-ohh, oh-oh-ohohh) You’re my courage when I worry in the dead of night You’re my strength ‘cause I’m not strong enough to win this fight You are greater than the battle raging in my mind I will trust You, Lord (Trust You, Lord) I will fear no more (Fear no more) I will fear no more (Fear no more) (Oh-oh-oh-ohh, oh-oh-ohohh) I will fear no more (Oh-oh-oh-ohh, oh-oh-ohohh) I will fear no more (Oh-oh-oh-ohh, oh-oh-ohohh) I will fear no more

I said remember this moment In the back of my mind The time we stood with our shaking hands The crowds in stands went wild We were the kings and the queens And they read off our names The night you danced like you knew Our lives would never be the same You held your head like a hero On a history book page It was the end of a decade But the start of an age CHORUS: Long live the walls we crashed through How the kingdom lights shined just for me and you I was screaming long live all the magic we made And bring on all the pretenders One day, we will be remembered I said remember this feeling I pass the pictures around Of all the years that we stood there On the side-lines wishing for right now We are the kings and the queens You traded your baseball cap for a crown When they gave us our trophies And we held them up for our town And the cynics were outraged Screaming, "This is absurd!" 'Cause for a moment a band of thieves In ripped-up jeans got to rule the world (CHORUS) I'm not afraid Long live all the mountains we moved

I had the time of my life fighting dragons with you I was screaming long live that look on your face And bring on all the pretenders One day, we will be remembered Hold on to spinning around Confetti falls to the ground May these memories break our fall Will you take a moment, Promise me this That you'll stand by me forever But if God forbid fate should step in And force us into a goodbye If you have children some day When they point to the pictures Please tell them my name Tell them how the crowds went wild Tell them how I hope they shine Long live the walls we crashed through I had the time of my life, with you (CHORUS) I'm not afraid Singing, long live all the mountains we moved I had the time of my life fighting dragons with you And long, long live that look on your face And bring on all the pretenders One day, we will be remembered

by the Class of 2019

Our days as senior high school learners have finally come to end, but our gratitude to everyone who helped in shaping our future, molding our character, and enhancing our knowledge will never cease. We, the latest graduates of the K to 12 curriculum, wholeheartedly thank Siocon National High School— Senior High School Department for fostering us all throughout. Our journey as senior high school students may have ended but the great adventure of life does not end here. We shall carry all the things we have learned, moments we have shared, and feelings we have felt and use it as a torch that shall lighten the rougher and darker road ahead.

WORDS OF GRATITUDE

Each of us may be different in terms of our interests, ethnicity, socio-economic status, religion, and political beliefs but we are all united in fighting the dragons of frustration and battling the depressive monsters. And hand in hand we helped each other so that none of us will be left behind. Senior high school was not easy especially if you work all alone, but if we all work together and unite as one, we can make it to the end. We are not here wearing our vibrant blue togas without the proper guidance and non-stop support of our second parents and the Sionahayz family. Thank you for the quality education you have taught and shared to us, we are not regretting even a bit for being enrolled in this institution. We are eternally grateful for every ounce of effort put to make our senior high lives an epic and memorable one. We are also forever grateful for the undying and unconditional love and support of our parents and guardians. Without them and their everlasting support, we would not be where we are right now. A humungous thank you for supporting us in our every ups and downs, and being on our side throughout this journey called life. In addition, this senior high life will not become a memorable and amazing one without our wonderful friends. All those moments we had, laughs we shared, tears we cried, magic we made, walls we crashed through, and time we spent will forever be engraved not only in our minds but also in our hearts. Though we are going to have different paths to take and mountains to venture, know that we may be apart but never in heart. You will be remembered. Though the future is uncertain, we are sure that with all the knowledge we learned, skills we developed and talents we showcased in this institution, we know and we are sure that we are well equipped to face greater and harder challenges of tomorrow. But above everything else, we are so grateful to our Almighty God for showing us that everything is possible if you believe in it and take a huge leap of faith. For showing us that everything happens for a reason and that You have much better and grander plans for us. We are so thankful for this wonderful life and for Your undying love. To everyone, thank you for believing in us and for showing us you cared. No amount of words or gestures can express how sincerely and magnanimously grateful we are, but we’ll try to enclose it in words that human language can express. Screaming out of our lungs, are the words of gratitude.

THANK YOU ALL SO SO SO MUCH!

PLEDGE OF LOYALTY

As graduates of Siocon National High School-Senior High School for the School Year 2018-2019, we solemnly pledge our loyalty to our Alma Mater and for all the ideals and principles for which she stands, to keep untarnished and unstained her good name, to ever persevere for progress and service, and to dedicate ourselves unselfishly to the service of our Alma Mater and Country.
