FA M I LY C O N C E R T S PRESENTED BY MACY’S

The Fiddlesticks Family Concert series includes three Saturday morning concerts designed and recommended for families with children ages three through eight. Each concert features a different theme to engage children in the magical world of music. Resident Conductor Fawzi Haimor and Fiddlesticks, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra’s feline musical ambassador to children, will guide you through these musical explorations. And, at every concert, vocalist Katy Williams leads the audience in Fiddlesticks’ favorite song, “Music Can Make Your Life Complete!” Performances begin at 11:15 a.m. and are approximately 45 minutes in length. The event begins at 10:00 a.m. with Discovery Time Adventures, in which children may explore music through hands-on activities. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 18, 2014 – 11:15 AM The beautiful colors of the changing leaves and the fun of Halloween are just some of the reasons that Fiddlesticks thinks fall is a great time of year. In celebration of this special season, Fiddlesticks invites you to come with him on a fall musical adventure. Delight in the bold sounds of composer Modest Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain (featured in Disney’s Fantasia) and be enchanted by legendary composer John Williams’ magical music from Harry Potter & the Sorcerer’s Stone.

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 21, 2015 – 11:15 AM Every winter, Fiddlesticks dreams about the first snowflakes of the season and the winter wonderland that is sure to follow. He can’t wait to go outside and take part in all of the fun activities that winter brings, like ice skating, sledding and building snowmen. Join Fiddlesticks as he shares some of his favorite music inspired by the winter season, including the Skaters’ Waltz and selections from Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 1, nicknamed “Winter Dreams.”

SATURDAY, MAY 30, 2015 – 11:15 AM Whether it is a trip to the beach or a journey West, summer is a time for escaping normal routines for family fun in new places. Fiddlesticks helps prepare us for the summer travel season with music that transports one to far away destinations. Enjoy John Williams’ rousing Cowboy Overture, selections from Ferde Grofé’s majestic Grand Canyon Suite and exciting melodies from the Pirates of the Caribbean. Send your favorite summer vacation photo to be shown during the concert! To upload your photo, or for more information, visit pittsburghsymphony.org/family. MEDIA SPONSORS
