Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) is on Track for Type Certification by 2025

The regulatory environment around AAM certification remains uncertain. While EASA has already published comprehensive guidance for AAM certification, the FAA has yet to match with its own requirements.

“We are fully on track for a type certification before the end of 2025 in Europe,” said Daniel Wiegand, co-founder and chief engineer for innovation and future programs at Lilium, which has been test flying its four-five passenger electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft since 2019.

VoltAero, developers of the Cassio 330 hybrid-electric, fixed-wing aircraft, launched its certification program in October 2021 and recently broke ground on its final assembly line. “We’ve worked with local French authorities since 2015,” added Jean Botti, company CEO and chief technical officer. “This background helps us to work with our dedicated team at EASA to develop this”

Fly FIVE Introducing the NEXT LEVEL in aviation by FIVE HOTELS AND RESORTS

Mark Henning, managing director for AutoFlight, noted the company recently set a world record flying its full-scale prototype a distance of 250 km (155 miles.) “It was important to show to the world out there that eVTOL isn’t science fiction anymore,” he said.

Batteries remain one notable regulatory sticking point, however. “There are fundamental differences [between EASA and FAA} regarding how to manage [thermal] runaway,” Botti noted. “That obliged us to create a team to advocate for similarities, but we’re not there yet. We are very far from it.”

Jet Luxe Receives Argus Rated Charter Broker Certificate

Jet Luxe announced that it has received its ARGUS Charter Certificate – an internallyrecognized standard of operational and safety excellence. This milestoneoffers Jet Luxe’s buyers, investors, and passengers around the world confidence in their decision to partner and fly with Jet Luxe.

Gabriel Madrid, CEO, Jet Luxe, said, “As we continue to rapidly expand, our commitment to service, safety, and operational standards are unwavering. Achieving certification with ARGUS is a huge achievement for the team and reflective of our legitimacy and relentless commitment to excellence.”

The ARGUS Charter Broker Program provides end-consumers and aircraft operators with unbiased, factual, and relevant data necessary to make informed and confident decisions every time they participatein a charter flight facilitated through a charter broker. This is consistent with the ARGUS Gold and Platinumrating program for charter operators.

As an ARGUS Certified Broker, Jet Luxe completed an intensive and rigorous quality review. To complete certification,Jet Luxe voluntarilysubmitted operational documents and signed The Air Charter Associationpledge. The certificationindicates that Jet Luxe, as a charter broker, meets or exceeds the standards independently set by ARGUS. The quality analysisis the business aviation industry’s mostrespected, unbiased, and detailed third-party charter broker analysis. The program is the only rating system in the business jet charter sector that uses a proprietary algorithm to score each operator based on their fact-based historical incident and accident information.

There has also been a re-emergence of boutique travel management companies callingon Hunt & Partner’s expertise to deliver bespoke itineraries. The entertainmentindustry, especially film studios, are booking trips to Europe and the USA on a regular basis. Sister company Premier Aviation is busy handling a number of high-profile band tours.

Financial roadshow charters trending in the USA

Having delivered an exceptionally strong first quarter of 2023, with a 30% growth over the same period in 2022, demand for air charter may have passed its peak, according to Hunt & Palmer PLC. However, the diversity of trips its broker teams are arranging in business aviation is as broad as anything the UK headquartered private aviation charter brokerage has seen in four decades of trading

The range of charter aircraftavailabletoday mirrors the diversity of the missionsthey are serving, as more executive jets and helicopters come on to air operator certificates.

“Demand for private travel to popular holiday destinations, including Italy, Croatia and Greece, will remain a mainstay well into the summer, Sandy Boyer, Sales Manager, Executive Aviation said.

Fly FIVE Introducing the NEXT LEVEL in aviation by FIVE HOTELS AND RESORTS

Although the larger operators tend to have usage reserved for regular pre-paid (Jet card) clients, their large aircraftfleets are often positioned at the right airportand Hunt & Palmer uses them regularly for one-way trips. Mix and matchingwith commercialtravel has become a trend too, reflecting that although airline services have returned, they are not at the frequency offered pre-pandemic. Recent activityincludes facilitatingsmallgroups of corporates from the energy and metals trading sectors from Europe to destinationsin North and West Africa.

In the USA there are indications that the private placement investment market is headed for a good year. It’s not sports teams dominatingHunt & Palmer’s USA activity through the summer - but roadshows for banks - all around the USA and into Canada, with a few into Europe too. Using an executive jet, with tailor-made multi city itineraries, shaves off a considerableamount of time.

“I haven’t seen a year like it for a long time,” notes Hunt & Palmer’s Wendi Matthews-Ortiz, whose USA-based team is quoting for finance clients into June and beyond. Their trips are generally three to four days. “That would typically be two weeks by commercial airline,” she observed.

More good news. The Group is seeing more aircraftbecoming availablefor charter, on both sides of the Atlantic. The situation is certainly better than six monthsago and business aviation operators are accepting a longer lead timeon charters too, added Sandy Boyer. Hunt & Palmer also notes increasing requests for carbon offsetting flights.

Users of commercialairlines tend to be the biggest users of ondemand aviationtoo, regularly combininglong haul commercialflying with short haul charters for inter- Europe trips

Embraer Phenom Very Light & Light Jets

The Jet family that transformed Embraer into a major Business Aviation player

The PhenomJets family was the first true purpose-built clean-sheet business jetsfamily introduced by Embraer in 2008, how did this family contribute to shaping Embraer Executive Jets offering?

When we announced in 2005 that we were embarking on the development of a new-generation of very light and light business jet family, we knew we had a tremendous opportunity. Our goal was to bring forth innovative solutions that would redefine the standard for both performance and comfort and offer advanced technologies, from the flight deck to the cabin, that previously were found only on much larger, more expensive jets

avionics on the Phenom 100EV consist of a more powerful avionics suite, offering even more processing power and enhanced resolution displays, as well as additional capabilities through constantly evolving software updates. As a result, Emergency Descent Mode, Graphical Weight and Balance, ADS-B In, Coupled Go-Around, TOLD, and PERF are just a few of the baseline features being delivered on the Phenom 100EV. Optional features include FAA Datacomm, Garmin Flight Charts, and IRF/VFR Enroute Charts.

With a large in-service Phenom 100 fleet, can you provide an overview of the modifications available for the in-service fleet?

Fly FIVE Introducing the NEXT LEVEL in aviation by FIVE HOTELS AND RESORTS

With our clean-sheet design, we were able to start from scratch with no assumptions, preconceptions, or existing airframe to dictate boundaries. This approach served us very well, and now, we have four clean-sheet business jet designs. In the process, we significantly elevated the standards for nearly every business jet category. And entirely redefined the kind of quality, luxury and performance business jets could deliver

The entry-level Phenom 100 has seen a large number of product enhancementssince its entry into service. The latest Phenom100EV variant is most noticeable for its Garmin 3000 touch-screen cockpit and enhanced Pratt & Whitney engines. Can you walk us through some of this model’s capabilities?

The Phenom 100EV represents the perfect distillation of the private jet experience as the most complete entrylevel jet, owed to its 21st-century, clean-sheet design. Originally introduced on the Phenom 300E, the G3000

We constantly monitor the market and look for the most desired features to be developed and prepared for our customers’ travel needs. Currently, 24 modificationsare available in our portfolio for the Phenom 100, such as cabin enhancements (Premium Seat and 5th Seat), as well as avionics and operational upgrades (CPDLC). Embraer Services & Support can also develop customized solutions to meet customer requirements. These solutions can be implemented at Embraer-owned service centers or an authorized service center. Our customers can also count on Executive Care, the comprehensive airframe maintenance program for Executive Jets. The program covers technical support and warranties for modifications (when installed at one of the Embraer-owned service centers). The full solutions portfolio for the Phenom 100 can be explored at the Embraer Services & Support website

Since entering the market, The Phenom 300 was able to dominate its category as the best-selling light jet, with an average of 50+ deliveries each year. What makes this jet so exceptional?

For the 11th consecutive year, Embraer’s Phenom 300 series has become the world’s best-selling light jet, according to the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA). Embraer delivered 59 Phenom 300 series light jets in 2022 to achieve this milestone, and to date, the series has accrued more than 700 deliveries.

The success of the Phenom 300 can be attributed to its disruptive technology, superior comfort, and unmatched performance:

In terms of performance, the new, enhanced Phenom 300E is even faster, capable of reaching Mach 0.80, becoming the fastest single-pilot jet in production, and able to deliver highspeed cruise of 464 knots, and a five-occupant range of 2,010 nautical miles (3,724 km) with NBAA IFR reserves.

In 2019, Lufthansa Technik presented an equally exclusive and completely customizable VIP cabin concept for the Airbus A220 for other VIP completion target groups. Dubbed “SkyRetreat”, the interior was aimed at a much younger and private clientele. With individual cabin monuments in the style of a luxurious beach club or a yacht deck as well as an “observation lounge” to the cockpit, SkyRetreat brought a completely new sense of space to a private jet.

Lufthansa Technik Unveils a Special Mission Cabin Design for the ACJ TwoTwenty

Lufthansa Technik AG unveiled a first glimpse on the design for a government cabin based on the smallest Airbus Corporate Jets (ACJ) type. The design for the ACJ TwoTwenty is aimed specifically at government and military operators who, on the one hand, attach great importance to high functionality of the interior and, on the other hand, need to perform other specialized tasks with their aircraft. The best example of this is the MedEvac (Medical Evacuation) role, which is currently in particularly high demand. Just as for conventional delegation transport, Lufthansa Technik's interior also offers a highly customizable solution for this.

The design equips the ACJ TwoTwenty, for example, with divisible areas for working (2 passengers), conferencing (7 passengers) and even sleeping for political dignitaries, ensuring a high level of comfort and functionality as well as security and privacy. In addition, the standard configuration includes a large delegation area consisting of twelve Premium Economy Class and 20 Economy Class seats. Altogether, 41 passengers can travel in this configuration, significantly more than on conventional business jets at comparable prices.

In the MedEvac configuration, up to eight stretchers can be installed for transporting lightly and moderately injured/ill patients, or two new-generation Patient Transport Units (PTU NG) for intensive care patients. Mixed configurations with stretchers and PTU NGs are also possible. With the additional tanks of the ACJ variant, the Lufthansa Technik-equipped A220 configuration will provide a range of up to 5,650 nautical miles (10,460 kilometers).
