FROM THE STAFF

TO REGISTER FOR PROGRAMS & TRIPS

Dear Current and Future Participants, I am excited to be working for the PJCC as an adult program coordinator. Formerly a graphic designer, I returned to school to pursue a career in psychology. Shortly after my decision, I became a family caregiver for my elderly father who had developed multiple health conditions. This experience opened my eyes to the difficulties that may be associated with growing older and also made me think about the needs of our aging population. Consequently, I decided to obtain a Master’s degree in Gerontology from San Francisco State University. Since graduating in spring of 2014, I have worked in various organizations supporting older adults aging in their communities. My interest areas include lifelong learning, personal enrichment, and social engagement, which not only benefit older adults but people of all ages. I am happy to be part of the PJCC, an organization that offers a wide range of activities for everyone. I look forward to supporting the adult programs at the PJCC and hope to see you soon! Best wishes, Koko Kawasaki MA, Gerontology

But you’re a little stuck and haven’ taken the actions to bring the change into being. Change is easier with a supportive team behind you. In this new workshop you’ll work with others to identify ways to get around your stumbling blocks. You’ll practice tools and techniques like “friend-storming” that lets others help you move forward. You’ll team up with others to do a “check-in” to help you keep moving on. Led by Betty Burr, gerontologist, mid-life coach, and PJCC staffer.
