This year for VBS – we are going to try something new! We are going to run a traditional VBS for 5 nights Sunday, July 20 – Thursday, July 24th! We are going to need a lot of help to make this a successful VBS. We are requesting volunteers to assist the Education Committee each evening that week – we will need someone to help with snacks, science experiments, songs, Bible stories, some skits

and folks to move the kids through to each station. Our youth are used to the program and look forward to participating in the different activities! Prayerfully consider assisting us that week! Sincerely – Liz Lennon and the Education Committee

Bits of News!!! The Ignite service will NOT be meeting on Saturday evenings throughout the summer. We are planning to meet and discuss our option as we look to begin again in the fall. Our first planning meeting will be announced in the bulletin. All interested parties will be invited. Please be in prayer for this ministry of our church! SERMON ON THE MOUNT! Pastor Ray is planning a Bible study that will focus on these important and revolutionary words of Jesus found in Matthew 5-7. We will meet for 8 weeks at 10:00 a.m. Saturday mornings, beginning September 13 through November 1. We can consider another day or time if that would suit more people. Please let Pastor Ray know if you are interested in attending. The first Wednesday of each month clergy, civic and business leaders and concerned citizens from New Holland meet for lunch at noon at Yoder’s Restaurant simply to get to 3

know each other and to discuss events in our community. Pastor Ray and Win Hall regularly attend, but all are welcome. We will be meeting on June 4 and then not until September. The next New Holland Borough Council meeting is on Tuesday, June 3, at 7:00 p.m. at the borough office. If anyone is interested in attending (or already attends), please contact Pastor Ray. As we are situated in the middle of town, it may be helpful to be aware and involved in what is happening with our local government. Knit Wits will not meet over the summer. If you have questions or problems with any project you are working on, give Jane Frybarger a call!

Special Music … We are looking for individuals who are willing to provide special music during the worship services throughout the summer. Contact Tim Hess or Julie Mitton if you are willing to do this or if you have any questions.

Picnic Planned The churches that comprise the Northeast Lancaster County Mission Connection of the United Methodist Church are holding a Pentecost celebration and picnic

EXTRA! EXTRA! Read all about it! A Strategic Ministry Plan revision was completed at the LED Team meeting on Thursday, May 8 th. Copies may be obtained from the church office. Please inquire, review the plan, and prayerfully consider how God is calling you to contribute to the continued growth of His kingdom in New Holland. The LED Team was joined by three new participants and is rejuvenated by their energy and enthusiasm! Heather Bressi, Joe Mitton and Anne Williams have joined the LED Team as active members. Please join us all in welcoming these folks and encouraging them as they work to contribute to Igniting the LIGHT at NHUMC. This revision to the Strategic Ministry Plan marks an historic milestone, as it has been almost three years to the month since our first edition! In that time, we have seen many spiritual blessings and temporal improvements at New Holland UMC, including (but not limited to):

 Improved relationships within the church, and between attendees and their Savior.

 Financial gifts and a balanced budget.  Successful navigation of significant capital challenges (e.g., boiler replacement, roof replacement, parish renovations).

 Consistent improvement in total attendance (+4% in 2013), OVER the national norm for the Christian church overall. As we enter into this next phase of the Strategic Ministry Plan for NHUMC, we are so excited to see where God is taking us. Won’t you become involved by at least reviewing the plan and considering how you will pray to support the activities? If you are called to participate or contribute beyond simply regular prayer support, please contact the church office (nhumc@epix.net) or an active member of the LED Team (contacts below). Fun and Free Series Kicks off with Fourth of July Themed Ice Cream Social Exact details are still in the works, but the LED Committee is planning a free ice cream social around the 4th of July holiday for our church family and members of the community. Please join us on the front lawn of the New Holland United Methodist Church and bring your friends and neighbors to this special event as we serve local ice cream with an old fashion, 4th of July flare. First in the new Fun and Free series, the ice cream social looks to promote pride in our community by offering fellowship through family friendly events. The Fun and Free series will play an important role in positioning our church as an active and engaged member of the community where all are welcome as part of our church family. We hope you will join us for the ice cream social and use the opportunity to invite an individual or family who may enjoy an opportunity to spend a summer evening with us. Planning for the event has just begun so look for more details about the ice cream social in the church bulletin and on the New Holland United Methodist Church Facebook page. Or contact Anne Williams at bbcharge@gmail.com
