Planning Decision NEW SWIMMING POOL FACILITIES TO BE BUILT AT COTTONERA SPORTS COMPLEX An olympic-sized indoor swimming pool will be built at the Cottonera Sports Complex. The planning permission was approved by the Planning Board.The pool will replace the existing Boccidormo’. The existing complex is built within the glacis forming part of the Cottonera fortifications. The design includes a green roof to blend in with the woodland characterising the glacis on the western side of the development. Read More
Chelsea Flower Show 2017
BEST SHOW GARDEN INSPIRED BY A MALTESE QUARRY A garden inspired by a Maltese quarry has been named the best show garden at this year’s edition of the Chelsea Flower Show. The award-winning gardener, Mr James Basson designed the M&G Garden. He used a monumental evocation of a Maltese quarry. The concept of this design was to heal the scars of excavation by using different species. Read More

An interview with Ms Fleur Marie Ebejer, Team Manager, who has been working for the past sixteen years within the Planning Authority. Protecting Buildings and Monuments in Valletta BRIDGE AND TUNNEL OF THE MALTA RAILWAY
The Malta Railway starting point was at the Valletta Station which was located above ground at the present Misraħ il-Ħelsien. A large, rock-hewn underground tunnel (10.7 metres beneath the square) served as a terminus. The viaduct (bridge) spanning the Grand Ditch was originally of wood but was replaced by a stone and cement bridge for a twin track in 1891. Read More
